We had a fairly warm
spring this year except for the late freeze that killed a bunch of stuff. It has already hit 85* here, was 81* today. We have had over 4" of rain in the past 30 days. I left the cabbage in as long as I did so they would suck up more water, and they did!!!!! Best tasting cabbage I ever had. I cut the roots off and had juices flowing out of the head. They weren't real tight, but that may by the type I planted, not sure what they were.
If I don't get my
spring crops in by Feburary, it gets to hot for them by May. It stays warm enough here I can work the ground just about all year long. I started last fall hauling in cow manure, I found a never ending supply. I normally start in October, and till again in January.
I plan to plant more grean beans where the beets where. I also wanted to try Peanuts this year, so far I have 5 or 6 up. Oklahoma is one of the peanut
growing states.
I already have part of my second planting in the ground, I just hope the summer doesn't burn it all up.
