Hi Cheryl, nice to see you. I wish yoiu luck on finding a new place to live.

Tina, yea Rod would not care if I would not eat what he does, but hey, I am not going to cook 2 small meals--one for me & one for him. SO I generally eat the things he will not at lunch time. winky

Sweet dreams everyone wavy

Good morning. I think I am ready for the school week. I need to get my van in for an oil change this week. But have no real major things consuming my time. I may be able to get some outdoor clean up done.

LOL perhaps your curtains wannted to celebrate too, Sunny !! Happy Cleaning today---

Tina do not over-do with what needs done.

Major rioting-looting here in Missouri over the death of a young black teen. My DD was a mess last night as her Daddy works close to where this was happening--she texted us wanting him to stay home from work today. Of course he did not do so. She says her friends who live close to the area say the news is making it look better than it is & she is afraid for her dad.

Lots of phone calls to make today. TTYAL

I hope he does keep safe. Those riots made national news and our local too. You must live on the border for him to work in the next state? Ok, I mapped it and it is as I thought.
Ted is happily at school and I am home with tidbits of shopping. I put that away and raked off my dirt driveway so far. I will not overdo any labor. If I keep on top of things, there will be less danger of being wiped out by wildfires. So every bit of leaf letter I remove is a good thing. Due to the drought, leaves have begun to drop very early here.

Yes, we are about 40-45 minutes from St. Louis proper. Where Rod works just off of "lilac" and so he gets to work in less time than that. It is common for people who lvie around here to work in St Louis or the surrounding area.

I spoke to Rod & he is fine. Valarie texted me & said from what she is hearing the rioting is moving west of where Rod works, so that is good for us.

I understand your wanting to keep ahead of any debris, but do be safe.

I am not ready for fall. I feel like I have not had summer yet---I have been so busy that it seems to have slipped by me.

Did you have a nice family time yesterday, Carol?
Ted and I are home. I sat in on his speech class before we left. He does better when I am there.
Now I'm going to stretch out.

Yes I did. It was a LONG time at the Home, but I can see them wanting to visit as much as possible. The do not get back home very often. The good news is Marie was in excellent form, so that was good so they could get in a good visit. Bad because now Jonathan will tell his dad that Grandma is in good shape. And while she is in relativly good shape (I should be so good when I get that old...if I do)

But me, I had a nice time..and I get to see Luke & Emily again. thumbup

Good morning all.

growing old is hard on everyone, I do hope your MIL does o.k. in her new home and situation Junie.

Tina, I need to make meals ahead like you do...it is just so hard since Grandgirl is the pickiest eater ever.

Hoping you have better luck apartment hunting Cheryl.

My garden is producing well, today is the start of preserving. Cucumber relish on the menu for today's chores.

Good morning. Yes, the cooking ahead really only works best for me. But Jonni mostly cooks her own as long as I keep her selection. And Ted is easy as long as I make mac n cheese once or twice a week.
Good morning. Happy Tuesday.

Yes I sure did. I ran my errand, stopped for a fresh sugar donut and then I got to ceramics about 10:30. I bought some paint & then chose which paints I would use on my 2 snowmen I am painting. Got home & I think I have changed my mind on the colors... why

Good morning.

You need to share pics of all your projects Junie. The new paint can be used on another item...a good reason to have lots to choose from grin

Grandgirl and I made our relish yesterday...this child loves to help with everything I do, it is so fun. We'll be making pickled mustard bean pods tomorrow.

This has been the hottest Summer we have had in many years, the constant rain with the heat has made for the highest humidity we have ever had. The gardens are loving it....even if we aren't lol

I am so glad you have heat to grow this year, Sunny. And a helper in the kitchen. That is truly awesome for both of you. You will be tasting your summer al through the winter.
Good morning. It is hump day and we begin the downward slide to the week. I have so much to do to get my little bit of property ready for the big winds and wildfire season.

Everyone has been so very busy----It makes me happy to read about it.

Sunnny, if I ever finish the snowmen I will be sure to post pictures for you all.

Yes, it must be real fun to have your grandbaby help you, Sunny. For years I have meant to ask--what are mustard bean pods??? Could I just google them? (I shall try)

Mustard bean pods search brought me nothing. I'm thinking pickled beans with mustard?
I didn't stop to shop today. I really did not need anything and have plenty to do here. I froze all of the chicken thighs that I grilled up on Sunday. And had more in my freezer. So those are in my crock today. I have a mess of sale steaks in the freezer to deal with also. We have a coupe more months of really hot weather ahead of us. I love a freezer full of 'fast' food ready to go. I am trying to get better with my labeling because I have too much mystery food in there.

Junie, Mustard bean pods are just a sweet pickled bean pod with a mustard sauce. They are done up the same way as mustard pickles.

You are smart to precook so many items Tina thumbup

Grandgirl and I went to run errands yesterday and I treated myself to a new 100 ft garden hose(of course grandgirl picked the pink one lol ). Walmart is clearing out a lot of seasonal items at half price. My old hose couldn't reach my garden...this one can.

Rain in the forecast for a few days...preserving and baking today.

Ah a new garden hose--I need a new one as well. The hoses I have (several shorter ones put together) are leaking badly. I am going to get one long one next year myself. IF I thought Wal-mart would have them on sale I might buy it now too. why

Thanks for the explanation on the bean pods, Sunny.

I am spending the day out today. First my Drs. appt. then hoipefully some window shopping with my sister. That is always fun.

Good morning. I also need new hoses around here. They weather so quickly. And critters chew on them. No pink for me.
I am up early today. It is going to be a lovely day.

It's nice here today, raining off and on but the coolest wonderful wind. Reminds me of October weather.

Those bean pods are yellow bush beans by the way...I forget that different areas have different names for them.

My DH bought me a new detail sander grin guessing he wants me to sand and re-varnish those cupboards sooner than I thought lol (although the 50%off probably had more to do with it haha )

Pickles made and beans are cooking....also doing the beets. My house stinks but the pantry will be Winter ready.

It sounds like your winter pantry will be beautiful and colorful. I call yellow bush beans wax beans.
I am going to torture my old dog in a bit in the bathtub. He needs one.

Yes Tina, I preserve what I can....I just wish I had a pressure canner to do up vegetables. Oh well, maybe someday.

Pickles, beans and beets added to the pantry.

Yes, I bought a huge pressure canner a year or two ago. I have not used it yet. I want to clear out my outdoor kitchen before I do so as not to heat up my kitchen.

My apologies to you Tina---I got rid of the locked CH & re-opened the same # for you. Sad thing is it looks as if I opened it & not you--and you had a rhyme & everything--My bad--

I will wait until I am not so tired in the future...

I slept like 9 hours last night..so I must be rested now right ?...
