Hmmm, looks to me like something in the Tradescantia family.

Did you plant any Dichorisandra?

I think you're right about the tradescantia. I was at the University gardens and they had one that looked very much the same. Not sure how it got in my gareden, but I like surprises.

I love the sweet scents wafting in the breeze. I stop to admire the vibrant colors of all living things. And people think me odd. Then ODD I am!!!

looks like a type of cross bread bamboo. had a friend into bamboo and it looks like on of his crazy plants.
