Today I am picking up my compost...I so wish we could make our own but we do not get a long enough warm season for it to 'cook'.

Well at least you can buy it. I guess be thankful for that.

Sadly all that I did was ask my husband to plant my 1 remaining living tomato plant. And I will be shocked if he does.

I transplanted the tomatoes from the pretend green house to the raised beds and transplanted the squash to the straw bales. I covered the potatoes with more dirt.

I bought my compost yesterday...and my tomato and cucumber plants. I usually start my own but with 'little hands' helping me lately...the seeds seem to get dug up.

Grandgirl saved seeds from a Spartan apple a few months ago, we put them in the fridge in wet paper for two months....and when we opened it yesterday they have sprouted. We planted them in little pots to start, I do hope they grow.

We also planted up a package of Lupine seeds in an egg carton...she has been making her mom buy her seeds from the corner store when she has a sleepover. lol

Today we will start a hanging pot of morning glories...I am so happy to have a garden buddy grin

It makes me so happy that your little one loves to garden so.
It makes me smile to hear of your garden stories. I really love the stories.

We put the compost in the garden rows and seeded up some bare patches of grass. I also removed a dead rose bush..I lose something every year.

Do not feel bad. Rod says we lost a rose of Sharon we bought. I guess it just happens. He thinks we should start a bush from our sandcherrt bush ( bush with redish leaves that has pinkish little flowers on the early spring.)

I love those sandcherry bushes, I had one but one year I lost a lot of shrubs and that was one of them.

As shrubs die I have not been replacing them..I just divide and plant a perennial in it's place.

Today we planted our potato seeds...we only did 34. I'd rather have my garden space for things I can preserve up for Winter.

Well, when I am home, I will read when we can take cuttings and we are going to try to grow other such bushes in the back of our property, as that bush seems to like the area.

I just planted my oak tree whip I ordered....it looks so small and pathetic. I am hoping it takes...the only oak trees I've ever seen around here are at a local hospital.

Amen I am pretty much finished in that garden here.
Between frost , an no show person to plow
an dying to get the plants off the porch.....Its been a real circus.. Oh we had a holiday too an I did 8 or 9 tombstones an visitations in 2 cemetarys more than once.. It was sort of peaceful in the warm sun an reliving memories.. Just a slow casual walk............. Gave me a chance to ride the convertible of late hubbys.

Hope Carol an Grem an Bill will soon be ok , Cindy too. clap

Sunny: A red oak YAY ! Perhaps late next fall you could put some kind of reinforcement around it so the snow & ice of next winter does not harm it.

Dodge: have fun with your plants.

When you all have some free time, come by and do my yard maintance. I did get my big flower bed done before I fell (except for the 7 annuals I had planned on putting in.)
Well now it is 3 weeks overdue for a good weeding.

I had the mulch bought for the beds in back that are up against the house. That will not get done.
My garden is a weed patch. Thankfully I have the 2 tomato plants that Rod put in my half barrel, and some early stuff I had already put in in my planters.

Soon I will have Rod help me put up my hummingbird feeders. 😸

I plan to make a wooden structure to cover the oak for a few Winters.

I have been hardening off my plants. So far I bought 4 chocolate cherry tomatoes, 6 Marketmore cukes, one watermelon(grandgirl insisted) and a few annuals. I also have a pot of morning glories starting to sprout and an egg carton full of lupines. The apple seeds have taken as well.

I need to buy a few more veggies tomorrow...all my seeds are bought and waiting as well.

Thanks Dodge.

I just looked at the bit I have planted...
I can barely see 1 of my tomato plants over the rim of the barrel. I told Rod to plant them deeper than the dirt line of the pot I bought them in....I think he must have gotten over-zealous in his plantings. but not to worry, they will be more sturdy this way.
My spinach & my onions are doing well, but the lettuce is small yet. We had onions yesterday with lunch. I use the tops in scrambles eggs...I can harldy wait.

Your time will come, Sunny.

if we were to get rid of the dandelions there would be little lawn left.
We had such a beautiful lawn. BUT DH stopped with the fertilizer for the new grass & the clover & the dandelions took over. egad

Sunny: YAY for your new "tool".

My garden is pitiful. We've already had blazing heat, lots of dry wind, and a few night time cold snaps. Not sure we'll get much this year.
