I will join in Happy Canada Day!

I just spent time doing budget for month. won't be a lot of saving going on, will have 2 boys to feed for 3 week, still growing boys. then will have Carrie and Jon and one more boy for another week or so... will be fun but lots of cooking to do I have a feeling, looking fwd to it though... made the French Toast and Pancakes already, now to do the waffles, good thing I have lots of freezer roo,. have a lot of smoothie mix too- they are always hungry these boys.

Joe is there and picking them up tomorrow to come back, will be late by the time they are here so have pizza for then, It's been nice to have a couple quiet days but won't be quiet soon...LOL!
Well off to make some waffles and decide what I am having tonit,, pasta with tomato sounds good right now... have a good afternoon and evening all, have to shut down , the thunder is closer sounding so need to unplug awhile... monsoons are early this yr.

Enjoy the family time Nana.

Light showers for today so I guess I'll stay inside and tackle the indoor chores. GG isn't feeling well again, I might have to cancel her dentist appt tomorrow. This sore throat thing is crazy...we just pass it back and forth.

Put a teaspoon of bleach in the since water for the dishrs. Or if you run water to rinse your dishes, put it in the wash water. It will help with stopping transfer of germs.

I am going to go with Valarie to the library today. Almost as nice as going to ceramics.

Sorry for the struggling, Sheri. I hope Johnny will go as well. I am sure that losing a child has got to be a tough thing to go tnru. You have my thoughts and prayers...

I have never heard of the show you were asking about.

I am not going to any fourth of July parties. The idea of traveling in the traffic is awful. I will be very happy here at home.

I'm watching The Incredible Doctor Pol again tonight. He's a veterinarian in Michigan or Minnesota or somewhere cold. My grand children love it. He treats all kinds of animals, big and small.

I pray that Johnny finds some comfort with a grief counselor....I wish someone would have taken me as a child.

We love Dr. Pol, I could tell you about every episode. Dr. Brenda is my GG's hero lol

Happy Fourth of July flwr

I had to run errands yesterday, so I picked up the lumber to make GB a wooden single swing for his house(as part of his b-day gift). He is going to be so excited grin

The swing will be nothing fancy. I already built one here, just two 4 x 4 posts with a post over the top, braces and a swing seat....then it is cemented in the ground. DD can take a pic of the new one when I build it next week and send it to me to show you all.

Today I am going to build an outdoor bench. I am tired of cracked plastic chairs and the seats fell apart on my metal ones. I figure a 4 ft wooden seat is just as good and there's plenty of scraps at the barn to build it with. I can fit it right on my back step as well. thumbup

It is supposed to be another hot day today....the tomato plants are loving it.

Tomatoes are one of those things that need warmth to grow but too much heat kills them. Or too much sun burns them.So they're tricky. Keeping things cool with water is iffy 'cause they tend to mildew and such. spring and fall is best for most everything. I've had plants that dry out faster than roots can suck up water. So misting is the only cure then.

It's a constant game with plants here.

Most greenhouses there must have a misting system then? I learn something new everyday.

I built my bench...but it's too hot to stain it today. It has reached 104*F with the humidity here....and my DD's friend wanted her to take the kids with them to the circus today. touched I told them I'd take them this week on a cooler day. The friends kids will have heatstroke by the end of the day.

I don't know how all greenhouses work. But the ones John had at the high school worked at the same way as my swamp coolers do, just on a larger scale. No heating because the mild temps and ambient work of the semi-transparent plastic quonset type roof. About two stories tall plus a little. About 30 by 50 foot wide with a gravel topped floor for drainage. One flat wall had a couple of fans, five foot each pointed out. The other flat wall had a porous matting on it above a tank of water. The water had a pump that would pump the water to the top of the porous wall and it would trickle down and cool the huge room. The tank auto-filled much like a toilet tank does.
The only electricity used is the fans and a wee bit for the thermostat plus a little for the automatic sprinkler system. So it is a cheap way to run stuff.
He had two of those buildings at school. They would not work for a more snowy condition however. I should research how greenhouses work in cold winters.
