Help! I have a split leaf philodendron house plant that is desperately root bound. Air roots surrounding the bottom of the pot by several layers and all over the base of the plant. I have no idea what to do. At this point I think there is very little soil left in the pot, though it is seems quite happy. I was going to attach photos but can't figure out how to do that. I am new to the website.

You can repot it....just use a slightly larger pot.

Any idea what two do about all the air roots which are firmly holding the plant in the pot?

You can snip those off....make sure to sterilize your knife with bleach and water though before cutting. Also water the plant 48 hrs before snipping the air roots.
