We bought a pitcher plant about a month ago and have recently noticed that some of the pitchers on it have been turing black. Any idea why?

That is the cycle,, the pitcher is done,, you'll get more,, Provide plenty of humidity,, you can also go to the pet store and buy baby crickets, to feed the pitchers,, Use tweezers to make sure the crickets go IN the pitchers. BTW CUT off the dying pitchers to promote growth and send energy to new growth. I had pitchers for a few years, and learned alot,, they don't like sudden change in humidity and like 73-77 degrees. Nothing is wrong with your plant, it's like a bloom that is now dying and will set new pitchers especially this spring and Summer,, No worries

Thanks, we were just a little curious as some of the pitchers dying are the littlest ones.

could also be shock because of buying it and it changed humidity level from the grower to the store to your home,, Mine did the same thing when I bought it,, also remember when you cut it off down to the leaf the leaf may die as well,, but you'll get new growth.

I also have this plant but mine pitchers are totally gone. They were turning black and then totally withered so I had to cut them off. I do not know what it happened but maybe anyone has some advice? Is is possible for the plant to grow pitchers again?
