No I had a Drs. check up so I went home to have my sister drive me, and then had a nice visit with her, my cousin and my mom. and today I had lunch with one of my ceramic friends as well. It has been a good week. I go home tomorrow.

Tina, we are still making hay...we had another break down yesterday(our equipment is older than dirt). We have all our fields baled but we are cutting a neighbor's at the moment. They no longer farm and would rather we take it then let it sit and be a fire hazard.

DH is baling the last of the hay at the neighbors...I'll be glad to see it finished. We've hit into the 100's*F the past five days.

Well, we didn't get to finish it....we blew a hose on the baler. This farming is costing more than it is worth. Yay for being home....I think.

Another hot one today. It will probably cool down soon as Hurricane Henri travels towards us Tuesday. Something ate all my blueberries in my garden through the night...there is not even an unripe one left.

I have bear, deer, moose, fox, etc... I might have to fence my berries next year.
Junie, I am 3 miles inland from the ocean but we are protected because it is on the top Northern part of the province. We are in a little cubby hole along the shore. We'll get an update tomorrow on the storm.

Wow..3 miles. That is great when one is planning a day at the beach, but to me, that is very close when talking hurricanes. glad for the "cubby hole" area.

Junie, Hurricane Henri is on its way to hit New England at the moment but it is being downgraded for us....we are under a Tropical Cyclone advisory for Tuesday morning. It is coming up the left side of our province inland right now...the right side is where the ocean is. We border against Maine on the left side.

Thanks, we will be fine....I am thankful for the generator we were able to buy a few years ago, it takes a lot of the worry away from me.
I have a few sunflowers starting to bloom, they are a rusty orange color.

We are getting the tail end of 'Henri'....we are getting just heavy rain, no wind.
I need to go get groceries later today, I figure that with all this rain....there should be hardly any people out in the local grocery store.

The fire is behaving for now. At 500 acres it is 0 percent contained, and lying low. Wind to get up after noon and could breakout then again. Atrcraft are out and about again.

I have been without power, we are having severe thunderstorms. We even had rotation in the clouds and some parts still are seeing it at the moment. We got heavy winds and rain. DD got hail with her rain, we are all still under a tornado watch for the next few hours. What a strange Summer it has been.

My red-hot neighbor is still alive. 700+ acres, 4 homes. 12 buildings gone. No lives. The fire fighters have been on top of flare ups. Only a slight smell of smoke here.

I hope they get control of your fires soon Tina and I wish I could send you some rain, does Tangela live close to you?  Enjoy your day out Junie, my cherry tomatoes have been booming this year. I guess they really do like heat. I planted orange and red ones...my orange plant is about 5 ft tall. I have never seen that before in all my years of gardening. Sadly, the kids won't eat them but they are giving the cucumbers a going over. It is a cooler day so I will be giving the house a good clean and mop while GB is gone home for a few days.

Well I got some, and.enough to please me really, but I fear it was too hot for them. That or the plants being in pots kept them small and under performing. But my neighbor and my BIL made sure I had.tomatoes. Plus the farmers market has kept my granddaughters in cherry tomatoes.

I'm ready for you anytime Tina. Just don't get to fond of citrus fruit though because we just can't grow any in Canada. Lawn/yard is all done and we are now combining the oats. I came in to make Supper. It will be another long day tomorrow because we have to bale the straw the day after the oats are cut....it is never ending. Between the loss of land to fire and extreme heat/drought and the loss of bees.....humankind will not exist in the next 100-200 years.

I hope it cools down for all of you soon. The heat here has killed off my bush bean plants...that has never happened before, they were good while they lasted though. The peppers and tomatoes are loving this weather though. I picked the last of the pickling cukes last night...more pickles to be made today. The fresh eating cucumbers are still growing strong. It is calling for showers today, it will be a pleasant break from the heat we have had.

Drying the last load of my clothes now. Do not think that I have so many clothes that it takes all day to wash a weeks worth of clothes..well no. It just takes forever to wash and dry one load of clothes in my new (I have had them since October of 2018) that it takes all day to do 5 loads. ( I have to split the towels into 2 loads as the water level is poor....I have a huge drum, I just do not get much water to wash my cloths in this new machine. And did I mention I cannot soak clothes?? Well I cannot.
I have a Maytag HE washer/ dryer set. Not a happy camper. I wish I had of brought my 25 yr. old maytag washer and 14 yr old maytag dryer from home. But Rod told me to leave them, he would buy me new.
Ok..climbing down.from my soap box now.

Junie, my Maytag has a soak feature but I haven't tried it yet. I also need to see how full the deep water wash is, although I know it fills it pretty deep because I have to be careful not to overfill the washer because it will 'squeal' from the heaviness. My old HE had an override to fill it right to the top. Muggy days are horrid...rest when you can Tina. We are making straw bales today, yay....not.

Good morning.
Well, see, I knew a little about HE machines, so I made sure that this machine had a deep fill option. Sometimes it even works. But I did not know that I needed a soak option. I thought that was just something a washing machine did..well, no not so, with the new ones anyway. (lady at the store told me when I went back to ask.)
So glad that you have the type of machine that you do...and I even bought a better set than I was originally planning on buying.
My old machine, (not an HE) had 5 different water levels, I could extend the washing time, and to soak clothes, one just had to turn off the machine. Then later pull the knob back out and the cycle would continue to wash. I LOVED it !!!

Tina, our national leadership is in a mess. All the new promises made by the new elect isn't helping either, you can't give away what you don't have to begin with. Everything has being going backwards the past 10 years. We need a new Coffeehouse...tag, next one in is 'it'.
