The fire is behaving for now. At 500 acres it is 0 percent contained, and lying low. Wind to get up after noon and could breakout then again. Atrcraft are out and about again.

I have been without power, we are having severe thunderstorms. We even had rotation in the clouds and some parts still are seeing it at the moment. We got heavy winds and rain. DD got hail with her rain, we are all still under a tornado watch for the next few hours. What a strange Summer it has been.

My red-hot neighbor is still alive. 700+ acres, 4 homes. 12 buildings gone. No lives. The fire fighters have been on top of flare ups. Only a slight smell of smoke here.

Today I will go to the farmers market in town. I hope they have lots of cherry tomatoes.
The girls have eaten 2 6x6 containers full in 2 days.

Enjoy your day out Junie, my cherry tomatoes have been booming this year. I guess they really do like heat. I planted orange and red ones...my orange plant is about 5 ft tall. I have never seen that before in all my years of gardening. Sadly, the kids won't eat them but they are giving the cucumbers a going over.

It is a cooler day so I will be giving the house a good clean and mop while GB is gone home for a few days.

Well I got some, and.enough to please me really, but I fear it was too hot for them.

That or the plants being in pots kept them small and under performing. But my neighbor and my BIL made sure I had.tomatoes. Plus the farmers market has kept my granddaughters in cherry tomatoes.

As I have 5% battery left on my tablet I will say goodnight now.

Fire is 950 acres and 10% contained. Still sending fingers out towards me but they fight it back. I'm sleeping through the nights.

Lawn/yard is all done and we are now combining the oats. I came in to make Supper. It will be another long day tomorrow because we have to bale the straw the day after the oats are cut....it is never ending.

Between the loss of land to fire and extreme heat/drought and the loss of bees.....humankind will not exist in the next 100-200 years.

It's been a blast furnace outside here lately. I haven't even checked on the few vegetable plants I've got out there.
