I covered the plants last night and am glad that I did....it was 37*F this morning with frost everywhere. I had to give in and turn on the electric heat. I'll have to hook up the woodstove later today. We take it down and move it against the wall during the Summer months.

I cut the grass yesterday, on the highest setting on the mower...there won't be too many more cuttings before Winter. I also moved my blueberry shrubs out of my garden, they were getting to large. Slow and steady gets the chores completed I guess.

Glad you kept the plants from the frost. And yes, slow and steady gets the race done.

Sorry you had to turn the heat on, if only for the night. We had electric heat on the upstairs girls rooms.

Last time Rod cut grass he only cut the front and sides. The back is that awful grass with the 6 inch roots. When fall hits, it stops growing so much, but the whole yard will have to be cut at least into Mid October.
Last night I made a list of what fall cleaning I want to get done before I go visit my sister. With a list to cross off, I will get things done.

This evening I am going to transplant a few house plants. The girls can help.

Yup, here grass usually gets cut once a week but September it goes to every two weeks and usually once in October. It is not the grass that is growing though here...it is the weeds.

What houseplants are you transplanting?

Well, I did not have time tonight, but hopefully tomorrow I will play musical pots with my Chain of Pearls, False Aralea and my Norfolk Pine. I can move them all to the next pot, except the pine..I need to find a larger pot for it.

34*F here this morning, everything is white with the frost....the leaves will change suddenly in the next 48 hrs. I guess today I will set the woodstove back up.

Yes, I guess you had better set up the stove, Sunny. I have to wonder where summer went. It does not seem to me that it lasted very long this year.

Well, I never got the stove set up. I think I might need to get new pipes....they are starting to rust.

I guess this 10 days from Monday is what used to be called Indian Summer when I was a child. But the early mornings and evenings are mild and nice. So that is nice.

We still use the term Indian Summer here, mind you...I am sure it is not a term that is politically correct, hence the name change???? We are getting that type of weather right now. I am enjoying the week of no rain.

We have had rain a few days. Mind you each time it either only slightly got the sidewalks wet, or we just felt a drop or 2. So all told they have done no good for us.

I am enjoying the dryness, it has helped get the chores back on track.

Outside chores....gee, I should get on mine !!!

Nothing works as fast as making a list, it really seems to get me in the 'get it done' mode.

Another nice, sunny day here. We are being spoiled with this beautiful weather.

I had such a good time at Ginger's. Came home and went back to work. Lovely weather here today. I've got to do some yard work.

I am being invaded with wildlife. I had a family of 4 deer and a family of 5 skunks playing in my backyard last night. The skunks better find a new playground.

Oh my goodness. Skunks ! We had a family in a burrow the mom made under our front porch back at the "farm". We tried to get them to leave but Momma was staying. Rod had to force them out with water.

Sorry you have to take out the last of your garden. If it helps, I picked what will probably be the last of my tomatoes today. Tonight we are " supposed" to have a heavy frost/light freeze. Thing is then next week it will get hot again. The last of my tomatoes could have gotten ripe. But at least I was able to get what I could today.

I know it all has to come to an end sadly, it is just the 'knowing' that the gardening season is over.....and the thought of the six months of Winter that is to follow.

So far we are getting light rain and some winds, the worst is to hit us in 5-6 hours...but we are prepared.

It is Thanksgiving here tomorrow, most will try have their meal today. We woke up to an announcement of a turkey recall out West because of bacteria. Can you imagine seeing that on the same day you have family coming and that specific brand of bird already in your oven?

Oh my, I am sorry to hear about the turkey recall. And yes that would be sad thing to have happen for sure.

A co!d day here. In the low 40's..it was lower last night. But I have cardigan on so all is well.

The storm has come and gone, we had power outages throughout the day but all is well. We heard there were many car accidents though because of the rain.

Sunny, did the skunks leave? I've never seen a skunk in my yard but I've smelled one and it's awful. So far I've seen 3 copperheads and yesterday a black snake. At least they don't smell bad.

Copperheads...no, that is not a good thing. Black snakes are ok........
