My fault, I never noticed the amount of posts. Well, March break is here, the weather is nice....and this household is full of sick people. I was planning to do the spring cleaning this week but that is 'out the window'.

I am the same way, I do not even know the people but I feel anxious and worry for them. Right now, DH is following the Texas fires, along with the Ukraine war...then is obsessed with how your politics go. Let's talk about spring/Summer, yesterday I did get some seeds for the garden.  ~I keep a lot of the heirloom seeds but buy carrot and such.

Yes, I have bought some onion bulbs and a few flower seeds. I intend to plant some dwarf marigolds around my tomato plants thus year.

I always plant marigolds in my veggie garden, it does work for pests. Are you expanding your planting this year??

Nope, no expanding...I have 2 raised beds .6 feet each. But I think I will add some marigolds to the bed where the tomatoes will go.

I plant marigolds too but I don't know that they help or maybe things would be worse without them - I'm not gonna try it.

I know, here too. They forecast 1 temp and we get a much nicer one. That is good but I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The shoe is dropping for us Sunday into Monday, it is calling for over a foot of snow.

Take the sun when you can get it. My Grandson's birthday is in the end of April. In years past, he has already played in the snow on his birthday. I will hope he does not do so this year.

They just keep adding to our storm, we are supposed to have at least another 16 inches by tomorrow morning. Of course, whatever bug we caught is making me sicker than when I had Covid. Jeepers, I can't wait for March to be gone.

Sunny did you get 16 more inches of snow? I've been to Gatlinburg TN with Ging and her crew. We had such fun. It's like spring in my yard but Wednesday morning is supposed to be freezing so a lot of stuff will be gone.

Gardening...I have a few plans. But it is a bit early for them. At least I think so. I will need to add soil to my 2 beds and then rotate where I will plant my potatoes and tomatoes. I will need to replant a few perennials in the yard as well. But right now, I have my daughters "All the Things" Party over with. It is April 7 th.

I am glad that you are looking forward to it, I will await all the details. We got a snow/rain mix through the night...everything is covered in ice again. We only have half the snow we normally get so I guess the 'trade in ice' is a given.

It froze here last night, and I forgot to cover things. I am afraid to go out and look at my daffodils and my magnolia tree.

The daffodils will be fine, ours get covered in snow even in bloom, they are as tough as dandelions. Not sure about the magnolia blooms though, was it in bud?

The Magnolia not only was in bud, they were mostly bloomed out. The winds a few nights ago got rid of a lot if them, I imagine the freeze didn't help. (I have not looked out yet)
I had 3 daffodils blooming last night. I picked them, I figured that would make my Cora
happy tonight.
Below freezing here this morning.

We get freezes like that every few years, at times when the apple/cherry trees are in bud. It is a loss of fresh produce for the year.
We are getting a clearer day today, it is time I get out to pay bills.

The magnolia tree is all brown now, so no more pretty flowers. But it will soon be putting out leaves, it will then once again look nice. Nothing else was harmed. We are hoping those freezes are done for the year. We do not get fresh peaches in the area some years because of that. It happens to apples as well but that bothers me less. I can always buy apples at the store. Today is fixing up Easter gifts to mail. I was going to work outside but there will be warmer days for that.

Today is a do nothing and care of my Granddaughter kind of day. She is home from school which is only a half day. Hopefully I can find some smaller projects to do today that won't interfere with here being here.
I hope they are wrong about the forecast, Sunny. Here, our weather is supposed to continue to go up and down. SMH..

I hope you and your granddaughter had a fun day Junie. Well, a foot of snow has fallen again with another 12 to 18 inches to fall on Saturday. I guess Mother Nature decided to just wait until spring to send us the Winter snow that missed us. In like a lamb out like a lion instead.

Sad but true. You need to tell mother nature that she has it backwards. But here we have occasionally had snow in April and very occasionally one in May. Thank fully that is not the norm though.

I don't know about that, Sunny.
We moved further south, and that is not all it is cracked up to be. We don't have so much of the snow and such here, but when there is bad weather it it is usually accompanied by ice. I could do without that.

I covered a few things for the freezing weather the other night and so far so good. Junie, I'm sorry about your magnolias because they smell so good. I love using the big leaves in decorations. If you spray paint them they stay fresh looking for months. I use them a lot. I love planting and digging up potatoes but I'm not planting any this year or maybe ever. I just don't eat enough of them to make it worth my while. I can buy them at the farmers market. I have got my squash bales ready and squash seeds planted in cups in the little green house, and I've got the cucumber bed turned over and seeds also planted in the green house. Still need to clean out the raised beds for tomatoes and okra. That's all I'll plant. I'd planned to work outside this afternoon but it's cold and windy so not gonna do it.

Sheri, I too love to plant potatoes. Here I just end up with 10 pounds or so, but they do taste good, so I am happy to do it. Sunny, yes, comp!ain away ! I too am tired of winter. And if I lived where you do, I would be tired if it the day it first came in. Good morning !

I have no idea of the planting date where I live at now. Back home we planted them March 17...well when it was warm enough...but there I had even planted in early May and they made. I guess I will plant here as soon as I find some seed potatoes.

It is a hit or miss with seeds. I hope the next ones germinate. They are calling for another bad storm in the next day or two, Winter just seems to linger.

Yes about the weather. "They" say we are not done with our cold yet...and given we have had temps as high as 78*F a few times, you have to wonder what Mother Nature is thinking. Good luck with your new seeds, Sheri !!

Here we were in the 70's today. However tonight it is in the low 40's and in a week or so "they" say we will be back in freezing temps. Gracious !!

School is cancelled again today, it is STORMING...jeepers, you'd think we were in January with this weather.
Thanks Junie, the calf is all snuggled in warm and dry in the barn...he is a big one. I have another due in the week ahead, 6 in total if we have any luck this year.

The snow is so heavy that all the pine trees look like palm trees. I should not laugh, our power was off and on all day yesterday...with many without since then. There is a lot of tree damage.

How is the gardening going Bestofour?
We are in the 'full view' of the eclipse today but we will not be 'viewing' it. I have no desire to take a chance on our eyesight with those eclipse glasses. They gave them out at school, they better be prepared for law suits if they do not work.

We have 2 different types of glasses here, and they have the approved numbers on them, so we are ok.
My daughter is taking her kids to school with her to a school viewing party. That way she can make sure that they are wearing the glasses.
My sister and her DH are here with us to view it

Their glasses were much darker than ours, so we all used ours to view the eclipse. It was so very awesome. Then we had eclipse cake. LOL. aka a chocolate cake with chocolate icing with orange design on top to depict the sun/moon...a fun time for sure.

DH and GG watched it with welders masks. It was a strange feeling to see it go dark outdoors, then to light again in a matter of minutes.

Yes it was strange. We have photos of the yard when we were in totality. The street lights came on and everything. It was sure something to remember.

Yes he is much better. I am sure he thought he had a touch of food poisoning but we ate the same food, so he could not blame me. He did ask me if I had his symptoms... Of course I do not.
About your own tablet. If it were me, I would put a bit back every month and when I had enough I would buy one of my own. I . Then if Carey' s acts up on him, he can deal with it.
For your info, Amazon has good sales around Christmas time..here usually between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Money saved is always a good thing after all.

You have a smart boy, James.  We got some ice pellets through the night, it is snowing all around us. We are starting to get some nicer days...which means that everyone is dealing with flooding. Thankfully, we took care of those issues a few years ago. I feel so bad for people here who finished their basements...it is not worth the trouble and risk.

I started with all the kitchen cabinets...I like getting the 'worse' done first. Today I will tackle GG's bedroom. Our snow has been melting nicely but it is calling for flurries tonight and a storm on Thursday. Oh well, that is normal for here.

Hurrah on the cleaning..one day soon you will be all done. To tackle one area at a time, is less over-whelming----yay for you !! Let the flurries come. They give you more time to get the cleaning done so that you will be free to be outside more when that opportunity presents itself.

Yes, as soon as this is done then I will have to tackle raking the entire lawn. Well, when the snow is finally gone. GG told me today that cleaning a house was just too much work. Yes, that kind of thing is happening here...we have freezing/ or frost temps here one night then it gets up in the 70's the next day. And then lots of rainy days/stormy days along with. A!though I will say we have been fortunate in that the severe storms have been going north and south if us instead of right thru here. I am glad for the higher temps for you though, That should help melt your snow.

It's been down right cold here. Something has damaged my cucumber plants. I think one of the fields across the streets was plowed and sprayed with some type of herbicide or something and it's been so windy it blew over to my yard. I hope they recover. I've got two big ole happy bunnies hoping around the yard too so I'm going to have to come up with a plan to keep them out of the garden. The 4 bluebirds and 8 little house wrens have flown away and I guess they made it because i haven't found any dead baby birds laying around the yard.

We had that problem with our hard maples in our side yard back at the farm. The guy that planted the field finally stopped spraying the ends if that field and then our trees were ok.
