Hi all, I have been busy all week. I have learned to use the chainsaw....but it is taking me three times the amount of time so it slowed us down dramatically in the woods. lol

Next years wood is cut and will be all split by the end of day. It is calling for snow flurries this afternoon.

Hello Sheri, ! I heard talk of that last night when I went to my nieces fall party. ! But I didn't know it was going on now. Who is playing ?

I don't think I have ever heard of a female use a chainsaw. Good for you, Sunny. But I think you might want to not use it much. Accidents do happen..

I am glad you got your wood in though. Another job done as my MIL used to say.

Good morning !

Using a chainsaw is an added bonus around here. I hope to get one for myself though, DH's is so big and heavy(it was bought for using on the largest trees there are here)...it gets tiresome just lugging it.

We are seeing flurries in the air again...Winter is coming soon.

Yes, Rod's chain saw is big as well. Everyone's here is. But if handling them is hard then yes, a smaller on is in order. Being able to handle it is crucial I am sure.

I don't know that I'd even try one of the big chainsaws. If I need one of the gigantic trees cut down I'll have to get someone to do it so it doesn't hit the house or car anyway.

I was in Black Mountain yesterday visiting my mother and saw just a few flurries. Mostly fog that was scary.

It dried up for the evening here, but I still did not get as many kids as I usually do. I am sure Rod is happy of that. More candy left for him.

My Aunt dropped off her extra treats here as well for the grands...it is chocolate bar central. lol

I went to a little craft fair yesterday held locally, it was nice to be out and about but 75% of it was baking items.

I was not real pleased with what was available at the craft fair that we went to as well. There is another one locally in 2 weeks time. That one is usually nicer. I hope I can buy a Christmas gift or two there.

Be careful when buying homemade bread (and other baked goods for that matter). Check it to make sure it is fresh.

Yes, there is one lady who sells sweets at the fairs here, she thaws and refreezes her items from one fair/sale to the next. Yuck.

GG has a 'take your child to work day Wednesday'...she cannot follow DH(too dangerous) so she has to stay with me to work on the farm. She said I better take it easy that day. lol

My mother died this morning. I'm in a holding pattern waiting to see what arrangements my stepdad is going to make. We've been talking about it for a few weeks thinking he'd have an easier time before the fact but could never get him to pin anything down so now it's not done and we'll see what happens.

I hadn't thought about the freezing of baked items. I'm gonna ask before I buy.

Thank you.

We finally got some rain. I think it rained all night but it seems like spring because lots of things are blooming again.

We get the frost then the rebloom as well in October. The cold is here to stay this time around though. I need to wash my outside windows as soon as we get a day above 32* this week.

I have tilt in windows but still pay someone to clean them smile There are a few things I refuse to do and that's one of them.

I'm having a dump truck of screened top soil delivered tomorrow with a plan of hoping to redo some areas. I have a person who is supposed to shovel it around the yard for me. Hope he shows up.

No, I'm not moving to MS. They'll move sooner or later and I don't want to be there alone. I've got some low areas where I've had trees cut down that I'm going to fill in and an area under a swing where I'm going to plant grass. I've been picking up rocks all day.

PS Thank you for the lovely card.

I am glad you have help Bestofour. I'd be scared to ask what the price of a load of screened topsoil would be here, it is hard to come by.

Yesterday it hailed and snowed...then it melted through the night. thumbup

Good morning, did anyone get out to the Veteran's services? Sadly, I did not but we did watch the service on television.

It was a long weekend of farm repairs and Winter prep.

If there are services here, we don't know where. They DO decorate with dozens of Large American flags, so at least there is that. We used to have several services at home and we would often go to them. Here, if they have them noone announces them.

Once I read Sheri's post I realized I neglected to say, our church also recognizes all the veterans that did or do belong to the church.

Good morning.

I didn't go to a veterans service but they do have them in my small town. My church recognized the veterans we have going there.

Sunny, you don't have landscape places in your area? Seems they are all around here and sell all types of dirt and mulch and gravel and rock and I guess just about anything a person needs for a yard.

It will take me days to get all the rocks picked up in the areas where I want to put dirt. My yard is full of quartz rocks and I think the rocks cause the grass to die if we have a dry spell because they take up all the moisture - just my theory on that.
