I got a few texts from dodge the other day. Seems she's doing fine.

I am glad she stays in touch with you Bestofour.

There is one landscaping company an hour from here. Most topsoil is reserved for septic installations here, to finish the job to cover them. DH said it would now cost over $500 for a small load here.

Well, today I will give in and tie up the last remaining shrubs for Winter...Mother Nature is not staying away no matter how hard I beg her to. lol

It is good you heard from Dodge, Sheri. I was wondering. I sent her a birthday card and she usually thanks me. I appreciate knowing she is ok. Thanks.

Sunny I got 10 yards for a little over $400.00. They delivered it. I wish they would shovel it to where I want it to go smile

I sent dodge a birthday card too but she didn't mention it. Hope she got them. Wonder if she's still living in the same place.

Last I "spoke" to her I didn't ask her if she had moved, but now that you bring it up that is an option. She usually thanks me for her cards...(I like to know that my cards got to the intended recipient)

If I hear from her, I will be sure to let you know.

Good morning, freezing rain for tonight. I am definitely not attending parent-teacher meetings with the forecast.

I guess it is time to switch over and take out the Winter boots and such. uhuhh

Yes, I agree, staying home is the way to go. I am sure others will be doing the same.

I finished changing over our closets, etc. yesterday. "Another job done."

It is almost 4 am and we are coated in ice. DH got called out to work and I just cannot fall back to sleep, the phone ringing through the night always puts a 'knot' in my stomach.

I don't have enough clothes to change over closets, the only thing that gets switched out here are shoes/boots. I am glad that you have it done though...another thing finished to prep for the coming 'horrid' season. haha

Yes ma'am I am glad too. I just hope we don't have a real bad season. It seems down here if the weather gets really bad, we have ice. At home it was usually snow. Mind you it would thaw during the day and then the workers would not clean the water and slush off of the roads so there would be rough and smooth ice at night. Stopping at the stop signs was fun.....not.

And then there are all the hilly and windy (long I) roads here. How I long for nice flat straight roads again.

Good morning, we have been busy all day. We are redoing wire fencing with cedar pole fencing, it will take us years to do it all at the rate that we are going. lol

Look at it like this. When you are done, think how good you will both feel to have that job accomplished.

We used to get some snow but not lately. I'd like a little bit but without any ice. We're just not made for driving in the ice down here. smile

Here either. Too many wind-y hilly roads, and many of them have deep dishes along them.

Good morning, it is a mild day for today and tomorrow. The air smells so fresh and clean.

I have been chasing deer out of the yard this weekend. I think we had a 'baby boom' this year. lol

Here deer are moving this time of year..I guess they do the same in Canada, huh ???

It is coo!er here this morning..and A bit rainy. The weather app on my DH's tablet say in 5 minutes the rain chances go down to 5%. Now if it would just warm up a few degrees.

Good morning wavy

Good morning, another mild day. I might try to convince myself to put up all the outdoor Christmas lights. It sure is easier when they can still flex a bit...and the unfrozen fingers are a bonus as well. lol

I decorated my mantel today. I started to do everything but I'm having friends over next week and I decided to leave up the few Thanksgiving (actually fall) decorations I have out. The mantle was already started so I finished it. I wish I could post a picture on here. It's lovely.

Shelley, Darbi, Aubry, and I went to the Southern Christmas Show yesterday. So fun. BUT a chick fil a sandwich was $10.00!!!! I think that's price gouging and just plain wrong.

Bestofour, I do not know how people can afford to eat out all the time. I, like you was shocked yesterday. I went to pay the monthly bills and stopped at a sub place to pick up supper. I haven't been there in a couple of years but two subs used to be $20. Well, it was $32 yesterday...I told DH he better enjoy it because I won't be going back.

I wish I could figure out why both you and Junie cannot post pics. kissie

Me too ! It is just too complicated to me. I miss the free Photobucket.

We get coupons for our local Sub place. If we cannot use a coupon, we do not get them. You are correct. Prices are ridiculous anymore.

Yesterday I took a walk in the woods and tipped some trees for a wreath and a 'bucket' arrangement. I think I heard a chipmunk laughing at me, I was walking through the woods with a wheelbarrow. lol

We are still above freezing, which is good because if we got this weekends rain storms in snow...we'd be in a mess. It has rained ALL week.

I bet that was fun for you to do. It makes me smile to think of it.

But do you soak the greenery when you get it home. Many years ago when we lived in the country, I went to a local tree farm and bought a 12 ft rope of real greenery for the living room. I was told to soak it in my tub for 24 hours, then drain it some before putting it up. Then I was to mist it every day. It did smell nice though. Only time I did that. The tree farm went out of business soon after that year. I use an artificial one these days.

Most of the greenery is going outside, what comes inside I use those foam, wet blocks that the garden shops use.

We are getting a nasty rain storm today.

After a friend brought in greenery and put it on her mantle and after a few hours her mantle was covered in black bugs I always lay mine out somewhere for a while before bringing it in. I don't mist mine though, but it seems like it lasts a long time.

Sunny, I love walking in the woods. Might do that tomorrow. Even when it's windy in the yard the woods are so still.

Bugs? Yuck. I always soak my greenery in water before bringing it in for a small centerpiece.

I could walk for hours in the woods, sad part is that one has to do it here with a gun strapped to their back. We are over run with bears and coyotes.

Today is day 11 of our postal strike, it is going to be a mad rush when this is settled.

Day 11 ? Yikes I hope it gets over soon. They knew what they were doing when they chose right before Christmas to strike, huh ??

Cold and overcast here today.
The kids have school today and tomorrow. Then they are on a 5 day Thanksgiving break.

Washing clothes is on the agenda today.

They could have not picked a better time to strike, well for them anyway. For the rest of us, it is a hassle. A lot of small businesses are going to suffer, no one is going to order Christmas gifts if the mail isn't delivering and the back log is going to make it impossible to get what you want on time when they do go back.

I am hoping Amazon is still just a courier service, I need to make an order for GG this week.

I think Amazon will be there for you. Watch though. Remember how an independent delivery girl dropped off my rug cleaner to a random numbered house (same street name though,) in the next town. Luckily for me I knew there was another street in the next town with the same name as ours. Luckily for me the people had left it on a chair in the front of their house. I am sure I said all this before. ( I am thinking the delivery girl lost her job. I left a very " detailed" review.

Sunny do you think they'll settle the strike soon? My orders get delivered to neighbors a lot but thankfully they bring them over. Last week I got an email notification that the mail delivery person was unable to deliver to my mailbox or porch due to an obstacle. It was a lie. I called the post office and they basically said too bad you'll get it when you get it. It showed up 2 days later. People just don't want to do their job.

My mothers funeral was yesterday. It was a beautiful day and everything went well.

Bestofour, I am sending my condolences again on the passing of your mom. I am glad that the weather cooperated for the services.

I am not sure how long the strike will last but it is causing chaos. I have packages/cards here waiting to go but they will have to sit until it is all over with, even then...with the back log they will probably only arrive after Christmas. boohoo

Gosh Sunny. Hope the storm stops.

I went to a little town that has small business shops so I don't know a lot about black Friday sales. Can you get online or is your power out?

I did not get out shopping but I did get a small sewing machine at a good price for my grand daughter. About $60.00 off and free shipping. So yay !

Bestofour, we lost power off and on but a lot of people are on day 2 with no power, lines broke under the weight of the heavy, wet snow.

Junie, I would have loved to have a sewing machine as a young girl...you bought a great gift. kissie

GG and I are going tomorrow for our Christmas tree, then to the dollar store for her to finish shopping then to a coffee shop. We are making it an annual tradition. grin

Thanks for the nice comment, Sunny. I am sure she too will be happy.

Yay for traditions...a tree and the coffee shop..to me, those are great ones to have.

I have a Birthday party and a Christmas parade to go to today. BUT I think I will stay home and do none of it. I have things to accomplish here.

It was 24° when I got in my car to come to work this morning. That is soooo cold for us. Thankfully the wind isn't blowing like it has been the last 2 days or it would be awful. Cold for a parade Junie.

Junie, that is a good present and at a great deal. I've never been able to sew, took a class once, can't do it and neither do my children or my grand children.

I didn't bring my potted plants in and they got murdered. Guess I'm an accomplice since I knew the cold was coming smile Oh well. I was thinking of downsizing anyway. Now I have no choice.

I started decorating yesterday. Hope to finish and get the mess cleaned up tonight after work.

Yes it is very cold for a parade, Sheri. I was not going because of the cold, but since I am going now I am taking a few extra layers of clothes to wear and possibly a throw blanket. Heidi tells me the 2 of us will be keeping each other warm. So there is that.

My potted plants were on the sun porch. The ones outside are also deceased. But hey, my houseplants are in good shape.
