Stay safe, the news coverage is showing such devastation....it is sad to see.

Yes we are good, and safe. All is well here. My DD's house is good too. And yes, I saw some photos from our weather/news channel. Quite sad really. Luckily we didn't get any of the really bad stuff locally.

It was kinda strange, though to hear the meteorologist talk of the tornado going right at the exit to our little town, and right over the "meat market" that I go to and apparently the one he too uses.

I can send you some, it is pouring here. It's a good day to bake and cook some freezer meals.

We got another inch of rain last night. Sunday 1-1/10 inch, yesterday another inch. Dry right now. But today is a "first alert action day" So weather is going to get severe at some point.

I transplanted volunteers from where I had my Dad's Columbine flower. I hope they make it.

Columbines never do well here. I have tried too many times to count, from seed and plant. What color are they??

They are a reddish orange..Eastern Red Columbine I think.
I think I killed them. I left a bit of a hole where I planted the mass that I brought home so the water would go straight down to the roots
I probably drowned the plant, or froze it out over the winter. That hole is how filled up with nice fertilized soil. Wish me luck

I do wish you lots of luck.

Talking about plants...I have pink coneflowers coming up everywhere in one flowerbed. It's strange how some plants take over. They must have spread by seed. why

Yes about the coneflowers spreading. I read something just recently that said that is one reason to dead head them...to keep the plant from spreading. Well, I don't mind if they spread...

It was a mild Winter so lots of things have reseeded. I have sunflowers and something else volunteering in my garden....never had that happen before. Mind you, it was 32*F this morning so they probably will be no more.

I hope they make it through.

We will have temps in the 60-70's this week, so I hope my Columbine transplants make it. I do have a few seeds I saved from last year, that I failed to put out last winter to stratify...so I will add them this fall or early next spring for just in case.

The kids are coming today. "Papaw" is buying them a Pizza for lunch. Works for me.

It barely skipped us, it is 34*F this morning but it is calling for the same tonight. We had a milder Winter but that is giving us a long, cold spring.

I can see flower buds on my lilac trees. grin

I love columbines. They're so dainty. We have to grow them in the shade.

Yay for lilac buds. I think I am giving Valarie her lilac bush. If I can convince her to water it enough until it gets started.

I have my Columbine in a shaded area on the west side of my house. The little starts are doing well. I hope they stay healthy.

They just do not overwinter well here. I have tried everything...then gave up.

Still raining here, my lawn is soggy.

I trimmed shrubs most of yesterday. They'll just grow back. Why is it my lovely flowers don't grow like these shrubs that I'd rather stay a little bit smaller.

My DH "trimmed" my Bronze leaf Weigela last week. If he had of cut it any shorter he just as well cut it down.

Good luck with your shrubs, Sheri.

No worries Junie, I cut mine back severely before Winter(to keep it medium size)....and by the end of Summer it is the same height again.

After a full week of rain, the sun is shining.

Thanks for the kind words, Sunny. The p!us side if the " trim" is that he was then able to get at the weed-tree-bush ( whatever) to spray it so it will die out.

IF it is not raining this afternoon, Rod will grill out. If it is raining (very likely) I will cook our Memorial meal inside. Going soon to make individual pies for our dessert. Me blackberry, him an apple.

I noticed today that the blackberries are on the vine and just about ready to pick. That is if the deer don't beat me to them.

Well I couldn't stand it and planted another tomato plant and 8 squash plants. I'll be gone the entire month of July so unless it rains every other day that month who knows what will happen to them.

Put some net bags around the blackberries. I don't have deer problems, but I do have bird problems. I am willing to share but they take one bite out of each berry. Why not just eat one whole berry at a time ?? SMH why

I planted three rows of potatoes today, onions and carrots....it is a start. I'll finish planting the potatoes next week. The russets need to be cut so they will have to callous over first.

Sunny, so when will your carrots be ready? I put carrots out in October and the tops are looking beautiful now but I don't think the carrots are ready.

It takes about 75 days for our carrots to be ready to harvest here...from seed.

I covered myself with sunblock, didn't check the expiry date on the can. I think aerosol sunblock is garbage(even if it is not outdated)....what a bad burn I got on my neck. I had my hair up in a ball cap. Any recommendations for a good sunblock??
