The brook is near dried up, we are under a lock down from even entering the woods..the Dept. Of Natural Resources have their hands full with the fires everywhere.. We hit triple digits today with no rain in site.

We are safe so far.

Sunny, A friend in Michigan says the smoke from the fires in Canada have killed most of the flowers in her area. So very sad. I read that there are over 700 fires that can't be controlled. I'm glad you're safe and pray you'll get rain.

Thanks. It is bad, there was an uncontrollable fire 30 minute drive from me last night, they have made progress but if the winds pick up it will spread fast. We are getting triple digit temps, no rain for over two weeks....it is so dry that even the trees are dying.

We got a little rain last night. The fire came from the train sparking on the tracks, they had to shut down the train.

We still have fires everywhere but the local one was put out in time.

Hope you get more than a little rain Sunny.

All my rain and caused my garden to start producing so much stuff. This week I had a friend over and we ate cucumbers, tomatoes, squash and okra from my garden.

Enjoy your garden. Most of mine is suffering, the rain was little....we got more lightning than water. The fires are burning everywhere....more restrictions are in place for us. We aren't even allowed to go on our own property if there is woods in it.

I am so sorry to hear this. I hope that you are able to salvage something from your garden. I guess your government is trying to keep people safe. I hope the fires are never an issue for you or yours.

I will be thinking of you. And even some praying.

I will go out and water some tonight after we eat. I will be thankful that I can do that. Take care my friend. Stay safe.

I have no clue. They moved animals to volunteer farms around the province for the time being. The thing is that fires are everywhere, the ban continues.

The sad part is that the dry conditions means lower quality hay....if you can even get some. We went for a drive yesterday, farmers are in a panic to sell their animals now.

The DNR have been eunthanizing wildlife from burns.

We are supposed to get a few sprinkles today but we need rain.

The fire closest to me is out. Thank God.

It is a cooler day today, just like in the Fall.

The weather has cooled down. We still need rain though, we are still under many different bans. We are not allowed to even mow our lawns.

I am dealing with a bees nest in my wood shed. Do any of you have any tips? I don't want to kill them....just deter them. I sprayed vinegar around in there...it's the only hack I know of.

I will speak to Rod. He may have an idea or 2. At least it will not hurt to find out.

As I have said..we will have lower temps in the next week. It will only be in the low 80's but it should feel like the mid 70's. I am excited.

I had a swarm of bees in my yard once and called a beekeeper who came and got them. I don't know how to make them leave other than spray which would kill them.

Rod does not have any idea. But I read once (for wasps) that a person should get a brown bag and stuff it to look like a wasps nest, and hang it up.
In that case it was supposed to scare away the wasps as this area was " occupied". I don't know if it would work for bees but I guess it would be cheap enough to try.

The bees are back. Today I will try the gasoline jug trick, you just leave a gas can open....to fumigate the area.

The fires keep getting contained, then a new one pops up....we have only had a shower sprinkle in the past three weeks. The smell of smoke outdoors is nauseating.

On a different note, I have a spaghetti sauce simmering....made with all fresh veggies from my garden.

Oh, the sauce sounds yummy. That you could make that makes me smile..and makes me hungry. bow

Here we are having cooler feeling temps which makes it nice to work outside.
Next week I will trim my blackberries, which should be done by now.

Sorry for the bees and the fires. I was hoping " Erin" would come along and manage to send some rain inland to help. I hope your plants are not suffering.

A friend from high school and I went to a dinner play today. It was audience participation and was great.

We've had cooler temps too and boy is it nice but no rain.

Sounds fun, Bestofour.

The self clean on my oven makes the house smell so bad. I decided to go back to the old spray that you leave set overnight. Well, a person may as well spray nothing. They even screwed up the oven cleaner now. What kind do any of you use? Easy-Off is not easy or off any more. 🥴

Research it online. I think your problem is more the self cleaning ovens are not made so you can use oven cleaner on them. Back when I had an oven I could clean myself, I used Easy-Off. But then it would not surprise me if they changed the cleaner as well

I like the "stop cooking" idea myself. hifive
I too have a self cleaning oven. I only clean my oven in the winter. IMO it gets far too hot & warm in the house any other time of year.

I'm digging up red potatoes. After the season we have had, I am content with what I am getting. It has been a fight to garden more than the usual.

When I work I have to get up at 4:00 and it IS definitely a long day. Hope you can take a nap.

Sunny, my garden didn't do great this year either. I'm still getting okra and some squash but the tomatoes have been bad the last few years and I'm pretty much over planting them. My friend swears were are being sprayed with something from the air so that we can't grow our own stuff. Maybe she's right smile

Fluctuating temps are hard on tomatoes. Here cherry tomatoes grow amazingly. Bestofour, are you having trouble with growing or ripening?

My neighbor has blossom end rot in her tomatoes and peppers. What a disappointment, I told her I crush Tums in with my plants when I put them in the ground.
