I had a lot of Trick or Treaters here at my house last night. It is fun seeing all the different costumes.

Yup, Bestofour...we got the remnants of hurricane Melissa. We needed the rain but not the winds. We got a break in the weather for an hour around supper. I was glad to get 23 trick or treaters, the tiny ones were adorable. 🎃

Yes, the tiny ones are the best. Here their parents were having them say thank you for their candy and then saying Happy Halloween to me. Such a fun night.
Sunny, glad you at least got some Halloweeners.
That makes me smile. And glad you got some rain. That is always a good thing.

Junie did you hear from dodge? I texted her a Happy Birthday and someone responded back Happy Birthday. Makes me wonder if it was her because why would she repeat what I had written?

I hope Dodge is well. Did she leave a phone number with either of you?

Well, tomorrow I hope to finish my Fall to-do list. Then I have to go to my mother's to tackle a few things for her. I kept telling her all Summer to get her list ready....she gave it to me Friday.🙄

I do have her phone number and have sent another text. After that weird response I got the first time I'm wondering if it's her number anymore. I haven't received a response yet from my 2nd text. I'll keep you posted.

I'm working my last 12 hour day today and with this time change it seems like it goes on forever.

Last time I heard from her was around Mother's Day this year.

Yay for your last 12 hr day !!

No plans for a specific celebration. It will just be nice not to have to think about it anymore.

I did hear back from dodge. She's still hanging in. She made a comment that she has a few close neighbors who help her. Not sure what they're helping with. She mentioned that she had a small garden so she continues to putter around with that. I'm not sure how old dodge is but maybe getting on in years and I can tell you that living alone is sometimes a little sad and Jack has been dead a lot longer than Johnny. It was good to hear from her. We've been online friends for I don't know how many years and I have all sorts of handmade things she's sent me over time that I just love.

Dancing With the Stars is coming to Charlotte and I bought tickets for Darbi and Aubry for Christmas. That's 2 presents down smile Using Ticketmaster and other places is awful now thought because they have all these "resale" tickets which shouldn't be allowed.

Thanks for letting us know. I am so glad she is well.
Did you speak to her or was it a text ?? I think I may have to call her ??
As I said earlier, the last time I heard from her was Mother's Day, this year.

Thanks for the update on Dodge.

I spent all day yesterday at my mom's. She has left her house go to the point of not being able to afford to fix it. I told her that she was warned for the past twenty years it would happen, she wasn't impressed when I told her the next step would be a seniors apartment. These are the times that being an only child has its limits.

She was widowed at 34, I moved out 8 years later....she has been alone for almost 30 years now. She wouldn't allow us to help fix anything when it was fixable....now it is in complete disrepair.

I don't have the energy to fight with her anymore.

Wow, Sunny. I am so sorry. I could see her not wanting to trouble you and your DH, but she could/should have taken you up on your offers. This is sad.

It will be near 70 today. And possibly tomorrow. There will not be many of these days left. Rod drained my hoses for me already. I have covers for the outside spigots but Rod will not use them. Hopefully it will be alright.

It's 48*f here today, beautiful for November. I got my shrubs tied up and watched how to change rotors on our truck. I have no desire to ever try it myself though. I do not have the patience for mechanic work.

Junie, we have special spigots here for our climate. They self drain...no need to cover them.

That would be wonderful !!!

You are better than I am. I could watch a "how to" all day and still not be able to do something like auto repair.. Kudos for trying to.

I've got the outside covers too. We're supposed to be at 32° Tuesday of next week. I got my allergy injections today and I've taken a Benadryl so I'll be asleep in a little while. They don't phase Ginger or Colt but they knocked me out.

Sunny your mother has lived alone for a long time. Could she downsize or move into an apartment that's not a seniors?

No Bestofour, she would only be able to afford a seniors apartment. Her house is worth nothing in its state. She'll have to give in, in due time...she is still in great physical shape so she has that going for her.

I took out all the screens from my windows, put them away for Winter. Now to get myself outside to clean the tracks and windows themselves. It's calling for flurries tonight....time to finish up my chore list.

The weather guy says we could have flurries Sunday afternoon/evening. Gee I hope it misses us. When snow learns to stay off if the roads and sidewalks, it can come, until then I do not look forward to it.

Good morning !

Sunny do you remove the screens because they might get damaged by heavy snow? Your mother might enjoy living in a senior place. They do fun stuff smile

Our low on Monday is 30° and Tuesday is 27°. Thankfully I don't work until noon both those days and then I'm done and don't have to worry about getting to work at 6am anymore. I pruned back and brought in the plants I'm going to try to overwinter. If they don't make it, I won't be upset, but I thought I'd try a few.

Junie, we had flurries this morning, it's a whole 32*F out there. I froze my hands putting out the towels this morning.

Yup Bestofour, the snow busts the screens. The old screens were made tougher, these newer ones can't take it at all.

What plants are you trying to over winter?

Good question about which plants Bestofour wants to overwinter, Sunny.
Myself, am going to try keeping a volunteer hosta.( I think a squirrel actually "brought" it to my large flower pot. I should have transplanted early this fall. But I didn't, so I will try to over winter it. My bagged by soil looks like orchid soil though.but hey. I will give it a try.

Good luck with the hosta Junie, they multiply fast.

We had an inch of snow this morning but it is melting already.

I'm overwintering a geranium. 2 asparagus ferns, 2 hanging baskets that Aubry gave me this summer - a fuchsia and a mixture of verbena and I'm not sure what else. We'll see what happens.

Good luck, Sheri.. especially with the fern. I love them.

Thanks. Sunny. If it lives I think I will plant it on the west, shaded side of my house.

I don't have to bring hostas in where I live. They die back but come back and multiply.

We got more snow through the night and it is melting once again, we need any moisture we can get.

I hope the roads stay good for tomorrow morning, GG and I are attending a Remembrance Day ceremony.

We used to attend several Veteran's Day ceremonies when we lived in Illinois.
When Luke was a baby, his dad was often part of the honor guards at various ceremonies. And then we would have a BBQ at our house. Those were the days my friend.

You can still do it Junie and you should. Just invite everyone and see what happens.

Surprise surprise for us because it snowed last night. Of course it only stuck on the grass and places NOT on pavement of any kind but it was nice to see and it's nice when it doesn't stick.

In 3 more hours my job is done and over. I'm just sitting here praying nothing happens in the next 3 hours. It's like I'm sitting on a time bomb because nothing is every certain with this group of kids.

I have tomorrow all filled up with lab appointment, eye doc appointment, then hair appointment so won't be at home but at least I won't be at work smile

It's 34*F here today, still nice for our area although I freeze my fingers in the morning hanging out my line of clothes. 🤣

Today I will make my Christmas lists...for gifts, supplies and such.
