Someone hit a deer they say.

Crazy weather here, it is snowing at the moment, then it is supposed to turn to freezing rain at noon, then rain by supper....then thunderstorms overnight. touched

Gracious me....that is a lot of change, in a short time. So sorry for your weather.

We are supposed to have a lot of rain again on the weekend. We gave also been having a lot if heavy fog....Have I said "I strongly dislike winter"? 'Cause that is the case.

Good morning !!

I can't figure it out anymore, our weather has been so strange the last couple of years.

I'm sitting here looking through sales flyers. The fact that Canadian stores are having Black Friday sales is baffling and confusing.

So true.

I can hear ice pellets hitting the windows, thankfully it is supposed to go above 32*F in the next hour.

Hope everyone had a lovely day. My stepdad, who has always done stuff like this, showed up at my house today at 6:30am. If you remember he was not even supposed to come here today BUT he was going to his sisters, which is NOT on the way to my house, so he woke up early and decided it was too early to go there and came here instead. I'm an hour away from him and 20 minutes away from her. He stayed until about 10:30 and left to go see her. He just doesn't think right sometimes. I was glad to see him again though.

A friend was here today and we ate turkey breast, watched a bit of TV, then I took a nap. Supposed to be cold in the morning and Shelley's crew and I are going shopping. Pray for us smile

Definitely dress warmly to go shopping. But I envy you the trip. Enjoy your day and I hope you all find all that is on all your lists.

I am making a turkey breast with some trimmings and a pumpkin pie. Today's meal came without me not doing any work. And it was so yummy
We went with my DD to her DH's father's family meal.

I will cook tomorrow. Better late than never, huh ?

Bestofour, is your step dad driving himself around? That's scary. Have fun shopping today.

I am glad you all had a nice meal yesterday with family/friends.

Today I need to go through my storage bins and 'take out a little Christmas' to start decorating a bit. As the grands get older, I do less of it. I need to make up a box of decor to drop off at the food bank, someone may as well put it to use.

I used to decorate each room of my house. Now I just decorate the living room and do the dining room table, but then the 2 rooms are one so it really does not count as 2 rooms.

Getting older is no real fun is it ??

Same here, I decorate only 1/4 of what I used to. When the grands were small, Santa ornaments and figures took over the house...now it is time for another child to enjoy it all. I'll drop off a box this week at the food bank.

Just got back from taking GG to pick out a Christmas tree, the price is now $35....which I know is cheap compared to some places but it just bugs me to spend that amount. I told Dh that some year I'm going to buy a fake tree.

Yes. On the long run the fake tree is monitarily the wise move..but my advice. Buy one after Christmas because of the sales. You won't have as many to chose from but they are cheaper then.
Just remember, that you are dividing the cost over many years. Also keep your real tree stand for in case you decide to get a real tree one year.

DH said as long as he is alive, we will have a real tree. I have no problem with the real tree, it just makes no sense to pay for one when we can go cut one for free. I like the rustic look of a farm tree....he does not.

I guess I'm just too frugal.

I think it would be cool to be able to go out and cut down our own tree from the woods. Perhaps you could begin looking at them with humans commenting on how nice one or two were. Perhaps he would be in the notion by the time ro.cut one down ??

Nah, he won't give in. I cut down one once myself when we were struggling financially when DD was very young. I honestly think it reminds him of our 'very poor' days. I cut a small spruce to decorate on the front step the other day....he even wanted to discard that one. I had a nice fake three ft tree for outdoors but my grandson asked for it and took it home last year for his bedroom.

I like rustic and DH likes perfect, our styles are so different. I guess I should be thankful that he lets me do whatever I want when it comes to decorating everything else.... renovations and such.

My dad was like that about food. There were 12 children in his family, so I guess that is why he was like that. So when I was living at home, once a week or so we had Steak..T-bone usually, and then the only way he would eat leftovers was if momma made something else out of them. As an example, one night we would have ham and beans. The next night we had bean soup. No warming up last nights meal for my dad...ever !!

I guess it was hard to feed 12 kids back in the day, especially when 10 of them were boys. My dad was child #10 and he was born in 1926.

It is terrible cold out and we are supposed to get snow and possibly freezing rain overnight and into tomorrow. I do hope the forecast is wrong.

Big families were a blessing and a curse. My grandmother had 17, took in another. Luckily my grandfather was a farmer....they never went hungry.

Freezing today. Meat pie making here.

Well my dad's yard was around 1/3 an acre. I have been told during gardening timey grandpa had the whole yard put in garden. My grandma canned the veggies and made jelly with the grapes my grandpa also grew. She would even have me come over to ,"help" her make jelly. LOL.

Very cold here as well, but no ice. So YAY

It is snowing out. GG and I will go out to the shed after supper, make a fresh cut on our tree and take it in. Tomorrow she can decorate it when she gets home from school.

Meat pies are made and in the freezer. This weekend will be the big job of making all the egg roll combinations, then the special baking the week after. Christmas should be in February. 🤪

Enjoy the iceless days Junie.

We used to cut our own trees but when Colby got sick and we weren't sure about allergies everyone went to a fake one. This year I got a 7-1/2 ft slim (not pencil) tree at Michaels for $150.00 and I love it. I'm not putting up the giant, monstrous tree this year but I'll decorate everything else as usual. I didn't want to have to move furniture around a lot so I decided to try and find a smaller tree and I did. I could put the monster tree on the screened porch but every year I fight the wind on that porch and the decorations are blown all over the place so I've put a Christmas tablecloth and a basket of gold sprayed pinecones and that's all I'm putting out there. If Colby ever moves out maybe he'll want the monster tree or if the gang complains about the change too loudly maybe I'll go back to using it next year.

We did have fun shopping last Friday. The crowds weren't too bad and Shelley and her girls got a lot of stuff. I got the tree and a few other things but I had already done most of my shopping online.

Where is my post ??? Try #2

So glad you got to go Christmas shopping, Sheri. You have to admit that shopping at Christmas when there is Christmas music playing is the best. AND I am sure it was more fun as you already had most of your gifts.

I think your tree sounds nice. We have. 7 ft tree and then I also have a 3 ft tree that I put on a tabletop some years. I originally bought it for my husband's apartment back when we were dating. It has served me well.

My mother has a shorter slim tree, she bought it a few years ago on boxing day. It looks lost with her 10 ft ceilings. It makes it easier for her to decorate though.

Bestofour, I'm glad you had a good day out shopping with your family.

Junie, I agree that the music is what makes it special.

I put the tree up and GG decorated it last night. This evening we will decorate the rest of the house.

OMG !!! That temperature jump is quite the "hop !! Does that happen often.
Right now, the temperature here is 26, but it has the feel-like temperature of 18. And there is wind. I hear that this winter is not going to be fun.

Good grief that IS a BIG temperature drop. Our high tomorrow is 45° with 100% rain which will make it yucky but we need the rain and it's too warm for sleet so I'll be happy.

I went to Bible study today and then to lunch with friends. This retirement thing seems to be working out pretty good smile

Tomorrow if it's not too yucky outside I plan to decorate the screen porch just a little bit - a few pinecones and red balls. Things that won't blow away hopefully.

This extreme weather dip happens a few times in Winter. I'm thankful for wood heat on nights/days like this...the winds are horrid.

Oh, yes...wood heat is THE best. No heat is better IMO. I am happy to see you use it.
I am still sad we do not heat with wood any longer.

Glad extreme weather changes do not happen often.

Did you make this tree OR did you buy it !!! I bet you could make a larger one.

You could put the ornaments closer together on your current tree, right ???

I bought it a few years ago, it was the display for ornaments at a grocery store. After Christmas when the ornaments were all sold, i asked to buy the tree...they said yes. I paid $10 for it.i could easily make a larger one.

Sunny, your little tree is cute. My grand children have always had smaller, maybe 4ft high, trees in their bedrooms for their special ornaments. Guess Darbi has her own big tree now in her own house. Wonder what she did with her little tree. It did rain all day and was cold but I braved the weather and put a few decorations on the screened in porch. All I need to do now is wrap a few presents.

GG has a small tree but has put it on the kitchen table the last few years. She now gets me to cut a small pine so she can have a Charlie Brown tree in her room.
