I'd love to go out for Chinese food Christmas day, one would leave the mess behind and family would have no choice but to behave in public.

All our stores are closed today but I hope that you both get to go Boxing Day shopping for me..

Nope no shopping for me....no one to go with.

And yes. That is my favorite thing about going out to eat.. everyone gets to eat what they want. They must be on their best behavior AND you get up and walk away from the mess. Perfect situation to my notion. When the kids were small we used to do that with some of the holidays....( depending on which place was open) And then we would go back to someone's house for dessert. I have no idea why we stopped
I guess because the family grew to be such a large number.

Our Boxing day sales only start tomorrow but I have no plans to venture out.

It is freezing today with a frost bite warning for tonight.

We used to have boxing day on the 26 but now they moved it to give employees a day to get the stores organized from the chaos and mess from Christmas Eve. Now when we go the 27th, the stores are organized with all the Christmas stuff in the front of the store on clearance.

That is an awesome idea about postponing Boxing Day.. I like it. Stores here could learn something from your stores.

Still watching Christmas movies, or sorta Christmas movies today. I did manage to fold and put away some clothes and wash my dishes and put away my empty Christmas boxes and bags.
Next with that will be to clean out my OLD Christmas cards to make room for my (this years) new unused ones. I have half of my unused boxes piled up for Rod to throw away..when they are gone. I will get rid of the next batch.

Junie, I need your oatmeal cookie recipe. Ginger and I made some the other week and they were dry as toast. We followed the exact recipe on the oatmeal but they were not good.

Sunny, I read your post wrong and thought you said your mother and daughter were already "in flight" so I thought they had moved and were flying to see you. smile

sent. Did you hear from dodge? I sent her a text with a picture of an angel she sent me one year and someone responded but it didn't sound like something she'd say so I didn't respond back.

Yes, I did..I got a Christmas card from her..and it WAS her handwriting. Same address, and she is some older than us. She was saying some things about her house. Try writing her and see if that works. I know she doesn't have a computer any longer, but last I heard she had her cell phone. (?)

Check your email my dear.

Good morning. I had quite the day yesterday, let's just say that next year there will be no turkey carcus soup.

My mother made the soup and choked on a bone. We were at the hospital from 9am to 10pm last night. It took 10 hrs for her to be seen by a doctor because she could breathe without trouble. By the time we seen him, the bone moved to her stomach. The x-rays were clear, his advice was to drink a bottle of coca cola to dissolve the bone quicker. 🤬

Oh my goodness !!!! That is ridiculous!! Next she will be in the Emergency room because the bone is caught in her intestines or worse. I am so sorry.
(FYI) I always strain my broth then add the veggies & meat to the strained broth and cook them until veggies are cooked.
I am so thankful that your mom is ok. SMH

Yep. For sure. Again. I am glad that she is ok.
ALSO..IMO you need to boil the carcus with water and whatever else you like on your soup..you would not believe how much meat that there actually is on the leftover bones/carcus. But that is why I strain it. Then if I want say any of the onions and or celery back into the broth I carefully pick them out, and wash them off. No accidents that way.. I love turkey carcus soup... apparently I need to find some turkey legs to make a meal with so I can make soup. . winky

Good morning, I woke up to the sunrise setting the sky a bright red. That means the incoming storm is going to be a bad one. It seems to be a mess of storms in both our countries, I'm watching the news for all of us.

Junie, There is a recall on dog biscuits in Missouri called Country Vet.

Tonight we will go to my DD's for a few hours. Then I will sit up by myself to bring in the new year. Tomorrow I will make a nicer lunch and then have some appetizers & such for Supper.

Good morning/afternoon.

Happy New Year!

I fell asleep around 11pm, I tried to watch the ball drop on television but I just couldn't do it.🎆

Good morning, it has been storming here for two days. What a mess with the winds, days like this I wish we hired someone to do our driveway. 🤔

Good morning!
Yes I can understand about your wanting to hire the driveway done. Back in 1982 we had a terrible heavy snow storm. Rod was of course working, and had dug out his truck so he could get to work.. Thankfully the town had finally realized that someone with a job lived at our house and they would plow the roads in front of our house....they didn't at first. Anyway, I had to shovel out behind my car and half of the circle drive...what a chore.. especially when I had a two year old to watch. Perhaps you should consider asking for money for your various occasions so you can occasionally pay to have the drive shoveled..you know, for times when it is just too much for you...at least while Carey is still working. Just an idea.

Lucky me..Today I received an A.R.C. book from an offer I love...It is bittersweet though as this will be the last book in this series. She has ended several of her series. I have to wonder if she is getting ready to retire.

Chef type salads for us tonight. And there is laundry.. isn't there always ?

Honestly, I just wish I had a newer tractor. It is finicky to start so I usually use the hand blower....of course the hand blower broke down on me today. The tractor won't start so I scooped part of the driveway. It was too cold to rest apart the hand blower to even check it out.

It would cost about $800 to get my driveway plowed in Winter....and that is for a basic cut in and out.

I stayed up until midnight. Not partying. Laid in bed and read a book smile

Junie, what book? I've never gotten an ARC but I know lots of people who have. Do you have to write a review?

Sunny, is the $800.00 for one time?

I took down decorations today. I don't want to put a picture or mirror or wreath above the mantle. I'm trying to figure out what to do.

About your mantle... I had a picture of a little girl in the corner being punished, and her beautiful collie dog looking back at the " camera" pleading for the little girl. I loved it. I do not have a fireplace here, sadly.

If you don't want a picture, why not a piece of art to fill the space,?

I am reading the last book in a cozy mystery series called The Firefly Junction series.
It is about a lady who lives in a renovated old time mansion and solves mysteries
And yes, we proof read for the author and later when the book is released, we write review.

I will leave up my Christmas until after Epiphany.

See everyone tomorrow.

You have a great deal with the free books Junie. I hope you enjoy them.

Bestofour, it is $800 for 12 storms I think....but that is just a basic cut in and out your driveway.

I agree with Junie, a beautiful piece of art would look lovely. You could also visit antique shops for something that catches your eye.

Another freezing, cold day here.

Naps are good.

I banked snow around the house and ended up with frostbite on my chin. Lesson learned to wear a scarf next time. 🥶

I end up with frostbite every year, just minor. I can't stand having my face fully covered.

I have bread rising, laundry to do and not much else.....it's too cold to be outside.
