Happy belated Valentine's Day from me as well.

It was a busy day. I went for groceries, visited my mother, I then had to go help my SIL. It is snowing at the moment.

Bestofour, there is always a catch isn't there? Install an app. 🙄

Yes, I wish you all lived close to come visit, then I could fatten you all up like me. I really need to get 50 pounds off. Then I could visit Junie and fight with her DH.🤣

Well, I wish you could all visit anyway. I wish we could all be good and present friends.

I got to go out to lunch, then as we took a wrong turn, we just went to the quick stop close to our house for a "dessert". I had a piece of homemade baklava and Rod had a giant homemade chocolate chip cookie. And then I watched 4'Indiana Jones movies.
I am waiting to see the 5 th and last one. I had never seen any of them in order or in their entirety before. All in all it was a great day.

Any wrong turn that leads to a bakery is a right turn. I am glad you got out for the day.

I have only watched the first Indiana Jones movie, when it first came out.

We are watching All In the Family, the one where Edith goes through menopause is hilarious. You can find anything on YouTube.

I had only seen parts of the first 4 movies. So the opportunity presented itself and I watched all of the first 4 in order and all of each of them. Then I thought to look up the last movie and our on demand wanted me to pay for it, before they would let me watch it. So I did not pay. I am hopeful I can watch it at some point.

I've never seen an Indiana Jones movie. Harrison Ford seems so tiny now compared to what he looked like in the commercials for those movies.

I'm with you Sunny. A wrong turn that turns into a bakery is NOT a wrong turn.

I spent most of 2 days putting out pine needles. Do you guys have to do this? This NC red clay looks terrible if it's not covered with something. Cracked and dry. Ginger's MS Delta soil is dark, soft, and rich looking. What kind of soil do you guys have?

Speaking of soil, I've not seen the radishes I planted. I thought 2 had come up, then it was freezing, and I can't see them anymore.

My house was built on a farm pasture so my soil is quite good...if we had a longer growing season I'd be able to grow anything. Frost is the problem here.

Adding pine needles makes your soil acidic. Is it the flower beds where you are adding it?

My soil is clay..but not red like yours, Sheri. I do have some black soil that has been added by the precious owner ( I guess) sad news us my edging us half black soil and half rocks. I have to assume they were having trouble with drainage. And then the yard us full of what I think is Bermuda grass. That is why I have 2 raised beds. IF I were younger I would have at least 3 and had I known they existed, I would have bought the 8 foot ones. Mine are 6 foot, and not really big enough.

Happy Wednesday to everyone. wavy

Ash Wednesday today, fasting for breakfast and lunch and no meat for supper. I still follow my grandmothers rules. 🙂

It snowed six inches last night. A wet, heavy snow...I wish I had little ones around to build a snowman with.

Yea, wish I had a clothes line. When we moved here, my DH said no-one else has one and so he was not putting one up for me.

Today it is supposed to be in the low 70's.. Can you believe it ?? Then by the weekend it will be back in the 30's and 40's. But hey, it is NOT in the sub zero temps, so yay !!

Sunny there are 100's of oak trees on this property so the soil is already acidic. Some of the pine needles go in flower beds but it's never been a problem because the flowering plants I have like acidic soil. I don't plant petunias in the ground but they do lovely in big pots.

Ah k, we have zero oak trees here, I don't even see them available for purchase anywhere. I do add pine needles as mulch around my blueberry shrubs.

Enjoy the nice weather Junie.

GG is sick, she caught gastro from her brother. Then she felt better yesterday then I get a call that GB has Fifth disease...now today she has high fevers. There is so much sickness in the school the past two weeks. Scarlet fever is going around as well.

Oh no, scarlet fever ?? That is not good. I remember my cousin and her brother had it when we were all in grade school. Their mom had to carry them to the bathroom as they were too week to walk.

I know, it's crazy. Within two weeks there has been Scarlet fever, Fifth's disease, Mono and Gastro in the schools. Of course, my grands have to join in somewhere. They had to close the daycare in town this week, the workers were all sick as well.

This new thing of not vaccinating your kids is going to bring back all the old diseases.

Sorry GG is sick. Darbi had fifths disease when she was in elementary school. When I worked as a school nurse it went around every year.

It was a glorious day here. It was 80° but with a wonderful breeze. A friend was here and we sat outside and walked the woods. It's nice because there aren't a lot of bugs out yet. Would be nice if it would stay this way.

Good for you !! I am hoping spring will be here before we know it !!

I agree about the thing about not vaccinating. Thankfully my DD here has given her kids their vaccinations.

My thought on bugs is that I say we have two seasons here, mosquito or snow. 🤔

Cold and dreary here.

Raining when I got up, went to church then to Lowe's for a door seal, rained a bit more, stopped raining this afternoon but the wind is over 30mph so I'm not going out there.

I haven't slept well the last 3 nights, since getting the head injections which have helped tremendously with the pain, but now I have a headache and I think it's from not sleeping. I want to lay down but am wondering if I fall asleep now will that mess me up tonight. I usually don't have sleep issues so I'm thinking it's the steroid although it wasn't a problem last time.

Shelley sang a solo at church today and did wonderfully. Coly, who turned 23 Friday, sits behind me in church and I can hear him singing, and it just makes my heart swell.

I hope the headaches lessen for you Bestofour, sometimes even the weather changes can cause them. Do you sing in the choir as well?

We are getting more snow tonight, February seems so long of a month.

I hope you feel better soon

More snow. I should have figured that would happen, Sunny.
We are forecast a lot of snow all along our east coast. My DD & Grands on the East coast are staying home today.

Junie, the storm is travelling here from down your way on the east coast. It will arrive around suppertime. There is already a *no travel* advisory in the south of our province. Oh well, it will snow all night and I can deal with it in the morning.

No, I don't have sinus headaches. The pain I was having was from occipital neuralgia, which I think was from being jarred around in the wreck almost 2 years ago, and I think my sleeping issue is from the injections I got last Thursday, and I think the headache was from not sleeping well. I think I'm better today. I've heard other people, who've had steroid injections say, they can't sleep for a while after so I'm going with that.

We haven't had snow, but it's been so windy that it felt colder than when we had snow. The pine needles I put out last week have been blown all over the place and the front porch mat is NOT on the front porch anymore but it's too windy and cold to go find it. The birdbaths have stayed frozen all day even though the temp said it got up to 40°. To be 24° in the morning but hopefully not so windy.

Time to staple the porch mat to the step Bestofour, that's what we do here. I am happy to hear that you are getting better.

Junie, we have to look on the upside of things with Winter here. If not, we'd all be crazy.😆

I'll head out in a bit to clear the driveway, grab a shower then commence on some baking for the rest of the week.

My DD that lives on the East Coast got lucky. She didn't get inches of snow..and then it warmed up and the rain got rid of what snow there was and a lot of the ice left over from the previous snow storm.(She called it snow-crete) SO they have school today.

Yes. About looking at the positive side of things, Sunny. Preservation of one's mindset is paramount I am sure.

The storm wasn't too bad here either. Mind you, this is the nicest Winter that I can ever remember. I haven't had to shovel the roof once. Next year will probably be snowmageddon.😆

I received a garden supply catalog in the mail, it sure is pretty to look at all the different flowers. Half of them wouldn't survive our zones though.

I have not received any seed catalogs yet..but then. I usually buy what I plant from Walmart or the local plant nursery, so I may not get any. You enjoy for us both.
You enjoy the mild weather this year. Who knows, it may be a trend.

Glad that your snow was mild as well

Junie where on the east coast does your DD live?

Not so windy today but not so warm either. I can't do anything about the weather so I try not to complain about it too much.

I went to the gym. I'm listening to Death on the Nile while I'm working out. The writing is lovely. I love Agatha Christie.

A friend has asked me to go to Holden Beach with her next week and the next week Ging and her crew are coming to see some of the ACC basketball games leading up to March Madness. Colt is on spring break so I'm not sure how long they'll be staying. Tickets are hundreds of dollars so I won't be going. I'm not a basketball fan and wouldn't pay that much to see a game, especially when I don't even know a player, anyway.

As long as you do not need much, fruit is crazy expensive here in Winter. You might just get bananas.😆

~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt.

Poured rain here today but thankfully wasn't too windy. I went to Bible study then to Chick Fil-A with friends (ate a kids meal) then came home and have been eating all afternoon. I don't know what's wrong with me. Yesterday I ate so much I was miserable. Now I'm watching Colt play baseball online. It's so cool to be able to do that.

Junie, here the bananas in the store are fluorescent green. I've stopped buying them unless I can find one that's more yellow that fluorescent green. I have been getting very good naval oranges the last month.
