A glorious day weatherwise here. My plan was to go back to the gym but instead I walked over 2 miles on a nature trail, not far from me, and listened to the birds and saw a few flowers. Was lovely. I fixed cabbage with potatoes tonight. It was delicious. Planning on going to church in the morning but we shall see how that goes.

It was a nice day here but not as nice as it was yesterday. Not that I am complaining, even though it was cooler today. It was still in the mid 60's.it beats sub zero weather we had last winter all over the place. So nope I am not complaining, no, not me. Cabbage and potatoes does sound delicious, Sheri. Have you ever tried cabbage and noodles tossed in butter ? That too is delicious. May I ask how you fixed your cabbage and potatoes ?

Bestofour, I plan to start walking again as well. I need to get to the nature store though and buy some bear spray first....I am so tired of living in the boonies. I haven't went walking in years due to the Coyotes in Winter and bears all other times of year.
Junie, send me some melting temps please.

We have a bear show up here once in a blue moon but I've never heard of anyone getting chased or attacked by one. We do have coyotes and mountain lions and lots and lots of snakes. Junie, I used golden potatoes, which are a bit softer and creamier than russet. I cut the potatoes in 1/4s, put them all on a plate and microwaved them until they were a bit soft, not done or mushy - a few minutes I put a few drops of olive oil, not even a tsp, into an already seasoned cast iron skillet and brushed it around the bottom of the pan. Added a bit of onion (not sure how much - just do it to your taste - I don't like a lot of onion) and sautéed until transparent - then removed into a small bowl. Added a pat of butter to the pan Added wedges of cabbage and moved them around for a few minutes so they would start cooking Added the already softened potatoes placing them directly onto the hot pan bottom where I could - I didn't have room to put all of them on the bottom so I stirred them a few times while they were cooking Added back the onions Added about 1/4 cup chicken broth Put in the oven at 400° for 20 minutes - pulling out and stirring around twice during those 20 minutes. Even though the broth was salted, I had to add a little salt when I ate it. I don't have exact measurements because I fixed as much as I thought I could eat (still had a small bit of left overs) and I don't have a gigantic skillet, so I had to keep that in mind too. It was delicious BUT I did need to add salt to it. Nex time I will probably add salt before I put it in the oven.

In the morning I'm going for another pain injection in my head. Hope it helps because I got my insurance report (EOB - explanation of benefits) today and he's charging my insurance $3,000.00 a visit for these injections. The entire visit takes not more than 10 minutes. Unless I get wonderful results this time, I'm done with it.

My gosh, insurance is such a scam isn't it? I can't believe they allow such charges.
I do hope it works.

IMO here, we do get charged a lot for medical care. The good news is they often knock down the amount they will pay for said care and we do not have to make up the difference. The bad news is things like what happened to me happens. ( example) I get Prolia Injections for my Bones. My Dr says it is even a second tier drug ( whatever that means) well my insurance company says there is NO company that will cover it this year. I have no idea what I am supposed to do. I need it to strengthen my bones.

I'm supposed to use Symbicort, a steroid inhaler, and there isn't a Medicare supplement that covers it. The cost is $636.00. I also need an EpiPen but this year insurances stopped covering it too. They are $600.00 a piece. I've had to pay $$300.00 out of my pocket for each of the head pain visits I've had. I don't mean to get political, but these are just the facts, what aggravates me, and I saw it plenty at the Health Department, is that pregnant women illegally across the border to the US, just days or weeks from delivering, come and register at a health department and they are automatically given emergency Medicaid (because it is said there isn't time to check their eligibility - which is a lie), and then their child automatically gets Medicaid which pays for whatever medicine, including Symbicort and EpiPens, they need. And what aggravates me even more, is that a lot of these people go back across the border to their families only coming into the US when their baby has a doctors appointment or needs medication. Then in a year or two the mother does the same thing because she's pregnant again. They are charged between $1,000 - $1,800 (or that was the charge when I worked there) for a handler to get them across the border, which they evidently are able to pay for but they don't pay for their own insurance or medicine.
If a legal resident walks into the health department days or weeks from delivering a baby, they are NOT given emergency Medicaid. They are seen by the doctor and can deliver at the hospital BUT if it's found that they are not eligible, which is a financial thing, then they are sent a bill and can't be seen again until it's paid.
Junie, I don't know what to tell you about your injections. Have you asked your doctor if there is a way the manufacturer will cover it?
Anyway, I had injections today and I hope they help.

I know that happens. I am sorry that you had to watch it first hand. I am hoping that your $300.00 out of pocket is mainly your Medicare yearly deductable. Mine for this year was $220.00 (so far anyway)
I too hope your injection helps as well.

It's the same here. They took in so many immigrants that get everything paid for.
My daughter works, gets less than what she'd get on Welfare. She owes a couple of thousand dollars to the dentist that she has a payment plan set up for. If she just went on Welfare, she would have had it all paid for at the time. It makes no sense.
What is the sense of you both having insurance plans that do not cover what you need? That is sickening.

I planted the cucumber plants and all but one of the squash plants. They've had to be watered 3 times today because it was 80° and is so very dry and no rain for at least 10 days. I'm praying for rain.
So far the injections haven't worked. I'm hoping they'll kick in soon.

I had put out a few seeds when we first got so hot and they had sprouted right when it snowed so I'm pretty sure they have given up the ghost. Also, a few things from last year had started coming up and now they're gone too. Oh well. Dodge sent some marigold seeds that I've planted. I doubt will have another cold snap. Right now I'm just hoping for a cool snap. I went to Sunday School and church today. Aubry sang a solo. She's such a blessing. My class is an all women's class and our teacher is sooo good. I like being in an all women's class. It's so uplifting. - wonder if the men's class is as good. Two friends are coming for brunch tomorrow so I'm going to try to do a few preliminary things today.

Dodge sent me some marigold seeds as well. Now I need a place to plant them. Today I watered my veggies and flowers. While doing so I found that my potatoes are up. So yay !? It could still freeze here but I will hope it does not.

Jealous of your potatoes. I love digging up potatoes - weird huh? My little garden is hanging in there so far. I need to get out 2 or 3 tomato plants. Maybe this week. My friends came for brunch today and it was cool enough (a little breeze) to walk around the yard. One brought me a little coleus in a pot, that I've put on the screened porch, and the other brought me moss made into a shoe form (sound strange but is very cute) and some dehydrated lemon and orange slices. I'm gonna invite them over more often to see what other presents I can get

No it is not weird to enjoy digging potatoes. I think it is grand fun to see how many potatoes we get from each hill. Besides, who gets to say what makes us happy ???

I love digging anything in a garden Bestofour. You have some gracious friends, I am happy for you. Do not worry Junie, we have had freezes here with potatoes, they will come right back I am housecleaning GGs bedroom today, my gosh ...she saves everything. She is going to have to donate lots before I put items back. She has over 20 bottles of nail polish....and not one of them opened, she doesn't wear it. Yet, people keep buying it for her.🥴

You both should keep some of the unopened polish to add to gifts. Surely she gets invited to her friends birthday parties.
Thanks about the freeze Information. Sunny.

GG is going to give a lot of stuff to a friend. The friends family is having a hard time lately, too many kids and a father on drugs do not mix. I don't understand parents these days. They had three kids, grandparents have to help pay bills....the mother goes and gets pregnant again.😡
I'm washing ceilings today....a wood stove is a killer on white ceilings. I had them painted beige before, I went back to white. The next time I paint, they are going back to beige.😉

That is very nice of your GG to think of those in need. So glad..you have taught her well.
My ceilings are that popcorn stuff. So there will be no painting or cleaning unless it is really needed. I will say the kitchen above the stove does need some care..so that will get cleaned
About parents these days. IMO we are seeing what is being reaped when you just send babies and small children to a day care..yep they are safe, and they are fed, but IMO these children are not ' taught things that a mom or a relative would teach. IMO most parents don't even have a clue that they are not doing right by their kids..in their mind, the adults think what they want comes first. Climbing off of my soapbox now.

I am scared what life is going to be like for our grands in the future. The world is getting to be such a selfish place. Yes. Yes it is...I have been holding fast to what I have heard for years that for generations the adults have been saying they have no idea what the younger generation is coming to....

We got 1/10 inch of rain last night. No storms yet, but there are tornado warnings in a few states west of us.
So time will tell. So far every time "they" say we will get a storm or rain, there is no storm and very very little rain. The ground is wet but we got nothing to even matter.

We're in a severe drought with a burn ban. Humidity is at 30%, which works nicely with my hair, but nothing else. I remember Tina talking about the low humidity in California and how dangerous it is.

The storms and most of the rain passed us by again.
I think the next chance is Saturday.

It seems to be feast or famine with the precipitation everywhere. We are still covered in snow but we are being told to prepare for a very hot summer.
