Omg, we watched a YouTube video not to long ago about squirrels on feeders. Some of them had a spinning apparatus that would sent the squirrels flying when they'd jump on them. 😆

Here it's the raccoons that will get into feeders, so we have to hang them on long chains from a tree limb.

Earwigs get into my lettuce, I am tired of planting it also.

What's up with earwigs this year!!!??? They are everywhere and this is a first for me. Do they do damage to plants or other things?

I have baffles on my bird feeders which seem to work to keep squirrels out of them. I've also moved them away from anything a squirrel could get on and jump onto them from. For a few years I carried my bb gun and popped them in the rear with a bb but I'm sure those I hit have had babies and they are lurking somewhere not knowing about my gun. I didn't see any house finches hanging around today so maybe the gold finches will come back and eat it.

Have not had any trouble with earwigs..( guess I should not have said that)
My squirrels climb up my pole that my DH made for my finch and hummingbird feeders.

My wild bird feeder has a perch that close the seed opening if anything heavier than a bird is on it.
So there is that at least.

I am watching a storm chasers show right now.
I am thankful we have not ( yet) ever had such severe weather.

Good luck with getting gold finches, Sheri.

Yes, earwigs damage plants. They are such a nuisance..I have to make homemade traps to kill them.

Homemade traps...hmmmm...we should talk.

The girls are here today, while mom is still at school/work.

I just bury a small can(like a tuna can) to its top, add vegetable oil with a spoonful of soya sauce. They get in and can't get out...so they drown in the oil. I'm guessing the soya sauce scent is what draws them in.

Its a holiday here today, Victoria Day. The local grocery was open so I went for a few things and got a cello pack of mixed tomatoes and one of green peppers. Not bad, 12 small plants for $5. My seeds did not work out....once again.

Junie, I've seen a few gold finches this year, (usually have a lot) so pretty, but the house finches force them off the feeder. I'm hoping they can stay now since I haven't seen a house finch for several days.

Sheri, golly. I will have to pay closer attention. Thing is, until I get a squirrel free feeder, I am not putting mine up. The squirrel us still Staying under my feeder pole to see when I put a filled one out. And as it takes 1 squirrel less that a day to eat a full feeder I am not going to feed this squirrel or any other squirrel.

Junie, get a BB gun or a trap. 😉

It is a rainy morning, the dandelions will be in full force once the sun hits.

We are in a drought situation here. Thing is we were supposed to have rain for several days in a row. Well yes we are but it is a few 10ths on each day and a few more the next. Meteorologist says we will get 1 to 3 inches more this week. Well I will believe that if I see it. This is good for my flower seeds and my late planted onion sets. So, yay !!

I could have sent you some rain the past two days but we are already being told that it will be a hot, dry summer. We have burn restrictions already in place.

I wasn't sorry about it at the time, it was the first Winter ever that I never had to shovel a roof. 😉

It is freezing today, 32*F.

Yea, I was happy for you as well. I worry about you when you say you are cleaning the roof off.

Freezing ?? Yikes. I had to put on a sweat shirt and long pants last night, but at least no freezing temps.

Not at all freezing here today at 77°.

Aubry graduates today. Can't believe it. And I'm going to Colt's tomorrow. Dreading having to be at the airport at 7:00am but maybe the roads will be clear and the crowd will be small.

Traffic wasn’t awful going to the airport this morning but TSA was crowded - all flights were going through the same check point. Colt and I will have a fun week.

So far today all we’ve done is eat and Colt has done his online life guard course. I’m amazed that he was given a certificate with just some online course and test. You’d think he’d have to prove something in the water.

Did I mention my squash has started coming in? The cucumbers and tomatoes have blooms but I think the plants are too small and I probably should have removed the blooms. Might be too late when I get back home.

Wow online life guard certification. Who would have thought. Yay for your garden. Enjoy your time with Colt.

I have SO many flowers on my potato plants
I am happy. Last year there were next to no flowers on them.

I am so sorry Sunny. I hope things straighten up for you.

I for once am glad no one tried to drown. Sheri. He can learn slowly to be a life guard this way.

I had an OK Memorial Day. Nothing special. However I did make 2 individual blackberry crumb pies for our dessert tonight. And for lunch dessert Rod took us to the local ice cream shop. He had a Strawberry shake and I had a vanilla cone.

We have no Memorial observance programs to go to here so the rest of our day was a quiet one.

Hopefully your grandson has all boring days, Bestofour.😉

It sounds like you had a nice, quiet Memorial Day Junie.

Well, it looks like my dandelions could use their first mow of the season but everything is soaked. If everything grew as good as weeds, we'd be lucky.

Yes about the dandelions Sunny. Rod is slowly killing mine, so I will not be eating them in salads.

I did get to "talk" to Heidi some on her phone. She and her brother have messenger kids on a phone each.

Good morning. It sprinkled a bit overnight. We have a chance of rain all week.

I'd kill my dandelions if I could but they stopped the sale of glysophates here(like Round Up)....and nothing else seems to work.

I divided more perennials today....I bet I lost a quarter of my plants this past Winter.😕
