Sunny, people don't take pride in their work anymore. I notice it everywhere. Plus people are lazy.

I am waiting for a batch of chili to cook so I put on YouTube. I am watching All In The Family, where Edith is going through menopause. I am still amazed that the show was allowed on air back then. 😂

Oh, by the way....I broke another toe on my foot last night. That's the third toe so far this year, I'm really on a roll.

when I broke my toe. the Dr. told me to go to the pharmacy and buy a flat thick soled shoe with a cloth laced shoe top. it did help keep my foot stable.

I just wrapped my foot and wear my ugly Crocs. I couldn't count the amount of times I've broken toes....and other bones.🥴 The older I get, the clumsier I get.

yap, I hear you. so far in my life I have broken my collar bone, my upper arm just below my shoulder. a thigh bone. and toe. 2 thoracic spine compressions. Such fun... not.

I guess we both have bad luck. I've broken my arm, wrist, hand, fingers, foot, toes, ribs and tail bone. No wonder we ache at times.

I was moving furniture in the bedroom....and forgot about the middle steel leg on the bed. I need to stop rushing, I am really becoming a hazard to myself.

Been pretty worthless today. It's so dry outside I don't even want to go out there. Every day starts with rain in the forecast then by lunch time the chance is gone. We are drying up here in Monroe. I tried to watch a show about a man who hit a dog because a woman crossed in front of him and they ended up adopting the dog thinking it would be a cute show but there's so much cussing in it I can't watch it. Do people really cuss this much? Thinking about taking a nap.

Cussing? My gosh how times are changing. I remember when one could not say 'poop' on tv. We never cussed in my household. To this day, we still don't unless it is an extreme situation...like breaking a toe.😆😉

I like old movies, ones that you can watch even if a child is in the room. These days, those are few and far between.

I hope you get rain soon, drought is such a fire danger.

. ridiculous really. I might say a word here or there but not in front of anyone. When we were raising the girls. I would be hard pressed to say such as " darn".

I like old movies as well. But now a days I watch not bloody murder mysteries to see if I can solve the " who did it" before the murderer is revieled.

They had snow flurries this morning a two hr drive West of me. We only had a very heavy frost, the only thing left in my garden is potatoes and carrots.

We have so much wood left over from last year that we only need to go cut a cord to finish next year's wood. I got my wood all in the the shed last week. The thought of flurries so soon puts my Fall chore list in rush mode.

is snow usual in September ? how long before you dig your potatoes ??

yay for either cutting too much wood last year OR for milder winter weather last year. Either way you are ahead this year, so yay !!!
We are still cutting grass here and watering outdoors......I must ask..where did summer go ?

Flurries in September is rare, it happens every few years. We see it in October often though. My root veggies will need to be dug by the end of the month.

Yes, last Winter was milder so we used less wood plus we had cut extra. We will just take a day next month and cut a cord. I have to move some of the extra wood outdoors around...the weight against the shed popped and broke a rafter from the pressure. That will happen this week, we need to pull back on the wall and reinforce the rafter. It is always something.

I have to come up with another idea to pile wood outdoors to season.

We had another heavy frost last night. The way it's going I might only have one last grass cutting for the season....just to tidy up the lawn.

I haven't been cutting the grass because it's been so dry but we finally got some rain today. Not in the forecast which is hilarious because when it is in the forecast it doesn't happen. We really don't know anything about the weather do we? Anyway, I'm glad for the rain.

Sunny, do you heat with a wood stove only?

Bestofour: all we (Junie and her DH) had at the farm was a wood stove but it made heated forced air that was blown all thru the house. it was the most wonderful heat I have ever felt. IMO it was/is wonderful.

Bestofour, we used to heat with wood only but an incident with DH showed us that electric heat as a back up is a must. In an emergency there is no one to keep the pipes from freezing if we aren't here. That being said, we heat about 90% with wood.

yes. I too love fall..I love to wear sweaters.

I got over an inch of rain yesterday. It was so nice.

When we moved into this house it had oil heat, which was wonderful, instant warm. My friend had a woodstove years ago and it would be scalding in the room with the stove but cold in some of the further away rooms. Her family owned a lumber mill so they were never without wood. I don't know how they kept their pipes from freezing.

Speaking of fall, my yard is already full of leaves that have been falling from the drought. Now it's time for them to fall

Oil heat does not work well in Winter here, the cost is enormous and the heat does not last. We do o.k. with our wood stove because we have an open floor plan. I'd never completely get rid of wood heat because I've seen what happens in power outages in Winter, those frozen pipes you wonder about. Especially since we cut our own wood on our back property.

my wood burner made water boil which made warm/hot air .then the warm air was forced through the heating ducts in our house. ( wood burner was in a shed outdoors..which in turn piped the hot air into the gas furnace which was indoors.) Cheap and grand as far as warmth went. BUT when we moved into town the cost of insurance would have more than eaten up any savings we would get from not using the gas heat. I still miss it.
