I was given a small jade plant and had never had one before.
I read a lot on here (in the old posts) about jades. What had stuck with me was that you should not move them around to different areas,and not even turn them around a different way.

Well, since I had already been caring for my little jade in my ignorant bliss, I thought, 'OH no!! I'm killing it!!!
Because I moved it around where ever I thought it looked nice (like moving my furniture around), an I would turn it this way and that. Of course I talked to it and petted it, too.

Guess what?...It has been growing like crazy, putting out new 'leaves' two by two; I even took one set of leaves out of the middle and so it might put out some side shoots, and the middle has new leaves coming out, and the little tip I took out and stuck in some dirt has rooted and has now leaves coming out!!

So all in all it seems pretty easy to grow, to me, and grows a lot faster than everyone says!

actually shirley, the problem isn't if you are doing all that with one from the beginning. it is if you take and established plant and do all that! so, you are doing good!! congratulations. jades are one of my favorite plants.

only for the first couple of hundred pics... then you will slow down....

jades are funny plants. if you get them used to being moved around, they won't ever complain if you move them. but if you let them get too settled, they are like a grouchy old man. they will pout and bluff to make you put them right back where they were.

Jade plants are wonderful and since they like to be root bound,you can make bonsai trees out of them.I keep mine at about 5in tall and in a 4in pot or smaller.Great if you have limited space.

Shirley, I rotate my Jade every week or two because i can't stand plants that lean off to one side. It is used to being turned and doesn't pout when I move it. It didn't seem to be angry with me when we moved to the different house and I put it in the new window. Right now, it is starting it's growing cycle.....I think because there is more light now that spring is here.

I like my Jade to be big....once we get totally moved and all, I want mine to be a nice Jade tree! :)

I would want mine to get as big as it could in my apartment!! The one someone has posted on here which is outside and so big and spread out and full of flowers is beautiful!!! I never knew they bloomed until I saw that picture!! I hope one in a pot in the house blooms some day.

I just wanted to give you all an update on my little Jade plant.

It is growing like a weed!!! It is about six inches tall, and that is after I took the top out of it, and planted that. The mother plant put up so much growth, that is why it is 6" tall; and the top I planted has rooted and is growing! And I took a bottom leaf off the big one and stuck it in the dirt and it has rooted!!!

Jiffy said that one of the ways a Jade shows it is happy is if some leaves or edges of leaves turn red....and some of mine have!!!
It is just getting more and more beautiful, and it loves me cause it doesn't care where I put it, or what I do with it!!! I LOVE my Jade!!!

Another reason for the edges of the Jade leaves to turn red is when the plant is exposed to full sun.

Yep, they get full sun for a little while each day and they love it!!!
