Not that they are pesty or a problem, I kinda like them. I heard a cicada just the other day for the first time this year.

Here's a pic of one that landed in my yard last year. The name escapes me but I do have it written down somewhere. rolz

Anyone has cicadas in your area?

I equate the sound of cicadas with summer and nice memories when I was little. Heard the sound then but did not learn what they were til a few years ago.

There audios of cicadas on this website. Scroll down to samples

I have them but they usually aren't out just yet here. I think it's a little closer to June. I love them too. Reminds me of staying up late at night reading a good book. I love it when there are a million flitting around at night and they're really stirring up a ruckus. I'll turn off the a/c and open windows! lol

They make the Most WONDERFUL noise! We have them every year, but every 13 years we have MASSIVE swarms that cover EVERYTHING in thick blankets. The NEXT swarm of THAT type is due here in 2011. Here is a pic of one I took LAST year.

We have them, but not yet. As a little girl, I used to love going to all the trees and collecting the shells.
