I ended up buying a water lettuce from a lady at the flea market for $5...she also gave me a hand ful of small plantlets...seemed like she wanted to get rid o fthem lol anyways, I got them home, and they are all floating on their side...I thought they wer supposed to float straight up so the rosette faces up...I'm confused! any suggestions? not just the plant I bough, but all the little babies are floating sideways

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

Hmmm.. the only water lettuce I have seen was in the pet shop that had a small koi pond.. but they were all floating upright.. looked like a little green flower sort of.. I thought about getting some, but at that point, I had no idea what I wanted as far as water plants.

Do those have a basket that they have to grow in, or do they just float along in the water?

they just float along in the water. i'm thinking that i'm going to "corral" some of them because the roots like to get tangled in my pump boohoo
