I'm still sooooo excited. I just got several hundred dollars in daylilies FREE! There was an ad in our paper for free daylilies, so I thought why not call. There's this guy that lives out in the country about 25 miles from me who has 25 acres, part is wildlife reserve and the other part is his home and daylily garden. He has over 100 different daylilies. Every few years they need to be divided, but because he's disabled, he can't charge money for them so he gives them away! You can get up to 10 clumps free. Well, naturally I thought they would be tiny little clumps, but oh no...he digs the ones you want and gives you huge clumps. Most came from Oaks and originally ranged in price from $12 to $100! I got one of the $100 ones, several $35 ones and not sure about the rest. I even got one of his own un-named cultivars. I'm soooo excited! Now I have to plant them, though...
Wow!! Alan where in the world are you going to plant them all? Bet they will be awesome when they start to flower? You may not remember me but you send me some oriental lily's called casa blanka and they did not come up this season was so sad but I found another gardener that said she has some and will send me some more in the fall and I can't wait I never grew them before but they are so pretty now I got to start me some! You have a good day and don't have to tell you keep those hands dirty?ha,ha Rita
I'm sorry about the lilies...when did you plant them? Orinetal lilies will often come up late or even the next year when they are planted late in spring. I hope this is the case with those.
I rented a sod cutter this morning and created a bed that goes around the edge of the brick edging of my yard. Then I raised the area up with bags of compost and planted them all, along with some boulders I dug up along the way. I'll post a pic as soon as the batteries charge.
Ok...here's a photo of where I planted 8 of them. This is only temporary for some because I plan on adding a few dwarf evergreens as well. The poor grass in my back yard is crispy brown because we're in a severe drought.
Bet it was fun to play with.... I am going to check around and see if there is such a small one here. Kind of like a carpet cleaner......ha ha It did a neat job for you.
I realize your in Tennessee, I haven't seen a home size one that goes like that. I suppose gasoline engine? I am hunting online, so far all I see is the press with your foot thingy.
If you see any, I would like to gock at it.Thanks.
THis web stuff is very intresting to me.Just last week someone on another site , told me how to fix my camera..I did it and it worked....$200. saved.
