Yeah, I have my plan to start next week as well. I was really anxious, but I don't want to start too early. And now with the beautiful weather we're havin up here in Rochester (ok, so it's raining...still no snow), I'm just antsy. Thanks mrw!

I've already started mine, but I pot up into larger pots before planting out. Some of my peppers are in 4 inch pots. The rest of are ready to be potted to the 4 inchers. My tomatoes are about ready to be translanted into cells. Except for my really early ones which are in 8 inch pots and about a foot tall. I'll be planting them outside this week using Wall-o-waters to protect them. zone 6b.

It's been a lot warmer here, all my seedings are out in the garden.

most of my seeds are for plants...only a couple vegy items.

i need to check on basic germination time for some tho...i know i have a couple of things that take a bit to get started. so i'll be needing to get them started soon!

I have everything started already. A few "test" (aka sacrificial) plants are out in the garden already. I plan on planting most of them out next week. Then I'm gonna cross my fingers, toss salt over my shoulder, and do all those other lucky things in addition to praying for NO FROSTS. It's been so warm, especially for March.

I started broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage about a month ago, and they are ready to be planted, hopefully today.

I just planted Roma and Cherry tomatoes, and Okras on Friday, and they are up and under the lights now.

That is so cute, 'Sparagus. You can tell her that he looks just like our big ol' kitty, Blackie. That way she knows who she's calling. lol

Holy smokes, another Rochesterian!

I'm starting my indoor stuff this week. I have no idea if this is the right time, because I've never done this before. I think we'll be ready for outdoor planting the first week in May, even though it's supposed to snow here Thursday.

I have seen it snow here in June, but it's usually done by end of April.

If unsure when to start your seedlings, contact your University
Extension Office. For about a dollar, they can sell you a planting guide. It gives the dates when to plant different vegetables. Also, they can suggest varieties that do well in your area.

Hello there MelonHead...Good to see a fellow Rochesterian...
As I look at the Weather.com weather map. My heart sinks that they are calling for snow THURSDAY THRU SATURDAY of this week! And they are saying that this may be the pattern for our area for at least the rest of this month. So I don't think we will be thawed enough for outdoor planting. I called the Cornell Extension and the lady at the help desk told me that normally, outdoor planting here starts around the 3rd week of May.
As far as snow in June, that must have been before my time, or maybe I was just too young to remember.

It was only a couple of years ago, and it was easy to miss. As I told a visiting friend that day, "I live in upstate New York and I know snow when I see it."
