Good Morning All!! Tomorrow morning I am going into the Hospital to have a total hysterectomy. This is nothing sudden, it has been a long time coming--I just kept putting it off. They are doing it at 10am & if all goes well I will be home Friday some time. My youngest and her husband have been here since Sunday & will be here for a week or so. My oldest has been in & out too. So that has been/is real nice. Hope to be able to be back on soon----
Please keep me in your prayers.

Will be praying for you. Glad they will be there for you..they will be a great help the first few days. You will probably be able to sit at your PC for a few minutes right away!! Let's hope!
I look forward to hearing of your progress as you are able. We'll keep the porch light on for you until you return.
Take care Merme
We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
carol, i'll pray too, and, if your surgery goes as well as mine did, you will be thanking that dr. for years to come. it has been 13+ years for me, and i still say that is the best thing a dr ever did for me
carol, my thoughts will be with you tomorrow...and i agree totally with jiffy, it is like being released from a prison sentence.....i had mine a year ago in jan. surgery went just fine, got put back in the hospital 2 days after i got home for a parilletic ellious (i have not a clue how to spell it), it is where your guts shut down.
NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU THINK YOU FEEL, DON'T EAT SOLID FOODS THE NEXT DAY, TAKE EATING SLOW! when i got home, i started throwing up and having diarehia, and then swelled up like a blow fish. the pain was unbelievable! worse than the surgery ever was.
i don't mean to scare you, if i had ANY idea that was what the dr. was referring to in a "THINGS THAT COULD HAPPEN" list, i would have listened better!
all in all, it was a fair trade, a few weeks of misery for my ovaries and stuff!
you will do great and we all hope to hear from you very soon! we need to start a "Hurray, i have been spayed" club!
and, don't pick up anything too heavy... you'll feel it for weeks afterward if you do. it's like doing 200 situps all at once if you pick up something to heavy (or end up with a child getting a piggy back ride too soon, like i did )
you will do great and we all hope to hear from you very soon! we need to start a "Hurray, i have been spayed" club!
Wendy, you can be president of the "spayed club", OK ??
Well, all, I got home Saturday--- The dr. said the surgery went well--and you are all going to love this one I had this terriable headache, which turned out to be a caffeine withdrawel headache, who knew??? At home here my breathing is labored and that concerns me, but all else is going as well as can be expected. I am going back in to see the Dr. on Tuesday, so I figure I can check on the breathing then.
MY youngest daughter and her husband have moved on for a week or so, so I will have someone here with me 24-7. And that makes me feel better.
Thank you all so very much for your thoughts & prayers. Also, I really appreciate all your advice. It all means so much to me, I want to get this right.
I'll be back here when I am stronger.

Rest as much as you can while your daughter is there.
Take it easy so you can really fully heal.
All prayers, always

just checking on you carol, i am glad that your surgery went fine as we knew it would and that your family is there for you. whenever you are up to it, we will start the "HURRAY WE'VE BEEN SPAYED" club.
Thanks for all the concern ladies--I am feeling better every day.
Wendy, i am ready any time you are-- ;) As a very wise (& spayed) friend of mine said, sitting at the computer is not work so one can sit there---and not be straining themselves.

Carol...so glad to see you here. ...and so glad your surgery went well.
Please don't try to over-do it.
Rest up!
Cindy
Cindy I WAS doing a bit here & there-- but my friend said after her surgery (when she was still in recovery) her Dr. came in and yelled at her husband--said "marie" was to do NOTHING for 6-8 weeks. The dr. had a most difficult surgery because apparently marie went back to working around the house afer 3 prior abdominal surgerys too quickly---and so with this surgery, there was too much scar tissue, and her "meat" was like hamburger instead of being like steak. made a beliver out of me---I am sitting, resting & sleeping.

Cindy, Jiffy, Shirley, & all--i really appreciate all your caring advice, concern & especially your prayers. I think i am going to need lots of help in the next several weeks---since I really feel good (with the exception of the constant incision pain) the sitting & doing nothing is not going to be easy.
Bless you all

but until the "adhesive strip" comes off the incision I can put nothing on it. i was told i could remove it in a week or so---but noone i know is pulling that off my belly!!!---(Ouch!!)
so I think i may wait for it to come off on its own.???
But I will try to remember Vita d--do you just break a pill & rub it on??/

I guess in a week or so i will begin to let the water pour down on the adhesive. I still do not think i will be removing it until it starts to come off on its own thinking about it makes me hurt.
but I intend to use the vitamin D, that is for sure!! I am so glad that you shared that with me.
Again, Thanks

carol, when it is time to remove the adhesive strip, try coating it with either neosporin or baby oil. and rub a little around the edges, it will loosen it without pain, and it will come off painlessly. takes a bit of time, but works like a charm!
the dr said to leave the strip on a week or so. One week would make it next tuesday--so i am going to wait until at least next weekend. I really appreciate your advice, i was dreading having to remove the adhesive---

i learned that the hard way. if it is surgical tape, you can also use vasoline. but personally, i like baby oil or neosporin. baby oil is great if it is the steri-strip adhesive tape. (that's the stuff that is almost paper like, and stick like mad, but the edges like to try to "peel" so if it brushes against something like clothing, it pulls and is most uncomfortable)
the baby oil is mild enough that it won't hurt your skin, and light enough to penatrate the paper covering and will soften the adhesive and make it come loose easily. if next tuesday is the day, start putting a little on it everyday till it comes off on it's own. that's what i did.
