I'd love to see everyone's garden pics! My garden is doing very good, thanks to mild weather and the on-going help I've been getting from here. A quick list of my plants are tomatoes (8 different varieties), peppers (2 kinds), squash (3 kinds), cantaloupe (6 different kinds), watermelon, pumpkin, 19 different kinds of flowers), cilantro, garlic, basil, radishes and cukes.

Who else has got some pics of their gardens?

Wow!! Your garden sounds awesome!!! flwr clap flwr Totally puts mine to shame.. All I have are tomatoes(3 kinds), cucumbers, cantaloupe and watermelon. And I am too embarrassed to post pics as I didn't have anyone to till my garden this year.. so I did it kind of, erm, differently.. I call it my hillbilly garden. I planted everything inside of old tires filled with dirt. blush But my plants are doing wonderfully so I might end up doing the same thing next year!! thumbup

My brother got a good laugh out of it, but he said actually it was probably a really good idea.. he said the tires will absorb heat from the sun all day and keep the plants warmer at night.. so they might actually grow better/bigger. clap

We shall see! grin

Very nice, nothing much to see in my garden yet.

Only planted my tomatoes and green peppers last night. I planted my bean pods a few days ago as well. Still more things to go in and won't look like much for another few weeks or so.

Just a mini garden this year, it's only 8 by 10 feet, DH says it looks pitiful in our big yard. lol

Tamara, my garden last year was my largest ever and it was 8x10 ft. This year we enlarged a little to 15x20. It's still pretty tiny by your standards. I just crammed everything into there.

Mine is my very first garden, and is only 6x6. i only planted 3 tomatoes, one eggplant, 2 peppers (one hot), 2 cucumbers, one lavender, one oregano, and lots of cilantro. i am nervous of the small space, once the tomatoes start taking over the whole space. I wish i could take out all the roots that took over my bigger side of my yard, that way i could fit at least 12x10. But i love your garden Sarah, must be wonderful to be able to walk inside your garden.

Biggest garden I ever had was 24 by 32, same size as my house. lol

Didn't come ahead though, everybody kept come and asking for stuff, and when you give to one.....

So now my gardens remain small and easy to tend to. No extras for anybody lol I also have a strawberry bed and other small berry beds.

Well, Tamara, you must be kind hearted. I'd tell anyone with the audacity to ask, to go suck a lemon. This isn't my finished size, DH will be tilling some of the lawn on the left of the garden for a few rows of Okra.

And I can only walk inside it for the moment. The squash is really starting to take over everything and the tomatoes are branching out faster than I can weave them in. Plus the cucumbers are going insane, I've never had them do this well.

Okay, so where are all the other pics?!! Doesn't someone want to share one??

Great looking garden!

I have a few pictures of mine....but will have to upload them later....its getting late and I'm heading off to bed soon. They aren't much compared to yours lol, but it is my first year so I will use that for my excuse of the crooked rows and etc in mine teehee.

I have tomatoes, corn, zucchini, cukes, watermelon, potatoes, radishes, carrots (which aren't doing so hot in the clay), rhubarb and a few different peppers planted.

Here are pics from 12 days ago. It really helps keep track of everything. I have garlic, leeks, shallots, scallions, onions, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, lettuce, (dead) peas, pac choi, cucumber, beans, summer squashes, herbs and I pulled up the broccoli raab.

My spacing worked out ok, but the soil is so dry all the time due to the tree roots. I am having a lot of problems keeping it moist. I am going to be putting some more weed blocker out there to help and more compost. I will get new soaker hoses next year too.

Tamara, I love your garden! Everything looks so tidy and organized. How do you keep the black plastic down? That would blow away in a heartbeat here. The picket fencing and rose covered arbor are absolutely lovely. Thanks for sharing your pics!

Thanks so much. I plot out my garden on paper and then plant everything with a garden yardstick. I lay the weedblocker down the two walking paths and plant from there. It doesn't stay as organized as it looks now. I keep the weedblocker down with landscaping staples I think they are called. I use 2-3 thicknesses and put in the staples all over with a hammer. Then I do usually lay some rocks here and there. Of course I overlap each row. I have had problems in the past with wind getting under there but I have just gotten more experience I guess. It has to be taut. One of the neighbors thought of doing it too last year but didn't put it down snug and it blew up alot. I was surprised it didn't bust his tomatoes. I definitely recommend weed blocker but get new stuff each year if you have diseases.

And dont use black plastic. it heats up the soil which is fine in early spring, but it doesnt let any nutrients or moisture in. Landscape fabric is good. It lets the soil and nutrients in and excess moisture can evaporate.

Here's my little slice of Heaven!
[Linked Image]

Today I harvested TWO Amish cantaloupes! Very nice texture...like buttah...but not as sweet as I thought they would be. Still, very good and will probably grow again next year!

[Linked Image]

We've got tomatoes (Roma and Big Boys) coming out our ears! I finally put up 12 pints of salsa yesterday:
[Linked Image]
But then again today, I picked another big batch! PLEASE post your favorite ways of using these guys up!

We got a WONDERFUL harvest of squash and zucchini this year! I have a great recipe for the best tasting zucchini bread that I'll post in the recipe forum (it's the only way I can get my kids to eat it!)

I just LOVE seeing everyone's garden!

Agnus, wow! I love your garden pics, and it looks like you got a hansome little helper too. My tomatoes haven't ripened yet, so I'm a little envious of all those jars of salsa and the abundance you have of toms. This must be a good year for squash because mine are about waist high and putting on fruit like mad. What a great garden, thanks for sharing pics!

I forgot about this thread, so I'm glad that it was replied to and bumped to new posts. I really enjoy looking at everyones wonderful gardens!

Now, no laughing lol, keep in mind when you look at my pictures that this is my very first year at a garden...well beyond a half hearted effort of a tomato plant in a container in the past.

The corn rows (crooked as they are LOL) are on the back side of the garden. Also towards the front of the picture are radishes and a few carrots that are trying to grow but not much luck with them.

[Linked Image]

And here is a picture of my tomato plants, also in the picture you can sorta see zucchini, yellow squash, pepper and cucumber plants.

[Linked Image]

There it is. This was taken last week and already it is much bigger. I am amazed how much everything grows, especially if I don't make it out for a day or so to check on things. I am so proud of my little garden, it is so much fun to do....never thought I would enjoy it as much as I am. Already planning on what to do different for next year LOL.

:-)

Karen, your garden reminds me of mine--my lines are always crooked. If I tie string to 2 poles and plant along the string, my lines are crooked still. I say, curves are easier on the eye and more graceful! lol

It looks great. Thanks for sharing your pics.

Here is a new pic of my garden from this morning. Boy, is it taking off! You guys are miracle workers-turned someone with a very black thumb to someone who, honestly and truely, has grown this garden all by herself. Thanks.

Thanks! I'm so excited, I've gotten 6 yellow squash, 6 big chili peppers, 1 bell pepper, and a few dozen cukes out of it so far. This is by far, the best year ever.

Oh, Tamara, that is terrible. Right now, we're in the middle of another week or longer rainy spell. Everything is getting moldy and mushrooms are popping up everywhere in the garden. I'm so sorry that you're garden isn't doing well.

We always get frost around and a couple of days after the full moon in June, as ur luck would have it the full moon was on June 30th this year.

Well, it was a very light frost so I am hoping things are o.k. I covered up a bit of stuff, forgot about the hanging basket though. Cr@p.

Very nice Rita.

I'd be scared to plant that close to the road, here they raid gardens right out of the back yard.

The frost got my two small hanging baskets and a hosta.

I hope your Romas do well for you. I've had some BER issues with them in the past. Good luck with your canning, if you've got any good recipes, I'm sure a lot of people would love to see them. If you wouldn't mind sharing any non-family secret recipes, that is. notme

Well, I hadn't known epsom salt was helpful for BER. Sure would've been nice to know that last year (my roma year). lol I'll keep that in mind if I see the same problem this year, although, so far, so good. I might put it on there when it starts getting hot and the plants start to become stressed, give it a little help. Thanks for the tip!

How did you get such a perfect rectangle? My garden plots always wind up looking like I was drunk when I made them. Your garden isn't that bad, I've grown much worse, where the only thing in there was weeds! I hope you get some bright sunny days up there!
