Well when you garden you have to do something with the veggies, so canning and freezing is part of it.

I don't have a lot of time to spend chatting. The In-Laws are coming over today, so in between visiting and canning I will be busy today. So I had to pickup a little to get ready.

Normally on Saturday I cut the grass, but it has rained for 2 days and is still raining today.

I have some squash and brussel sprouts to blanch and freeze today as well, and I have some cucumbers to do something with.

The guys at work call me "Suzy Homemaker" I don't have a like to free time

pat, they can call you that, but they are jealous when their wives leave for the weekend and it is tv dinners and mcdonalds! i think everyone should have a comprehension of the other gender's "chores" even if you don't enjoy them, at least you know how! and if you do, that's all the better thumbup

I get bored easily, I have to have something to do.

I canned 19 pints of Green Beans today and am working on some dill pickles.

Somebody mentioned shortcuts, when I'm real tired it's hambuger helper.

And sometimes I nag the stepson enough to help me clean the house, I figure since we are feeding his kid, the least he can do is help a little. He is going though a divorce and is way over his head in debt, his ex isn't helping matters any, she is worthless. We had to pay for the lawyer to speed things along.

So sorry to hear about your troubles, Pat. It's so big of you to take on that much and we actually don't even hear you complaining. Very impressive. If you have to nag your stepson to help more while you're looking after his kid, you certainly have more patience than I do! I'd be handing him a list of chores everyday!

Good luck to you and your family.

Canning is really very easy to do. I taught myself. If you look around you may even find all of the equipment to do it with.

As far as finding things to can the local farmers market can be a big help.

Step son should be pitching in daily regardless.. He won't amount to a thing if you wait on him and the son hand an foot.
He should be very greatful for a nice person to take him in at all.

I freeze all my string beans...I just froze parsnips ..
Picking berries to freeze now.. Raspberrys......

I can stewed tomatoes an use them for everything in the tomaoto line.. If you want soup , throw it in the blender and hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

It is our mail cannning issue.

Keep up the good work and you will be rewarded heavenly.

The only real complainist I have is how people treat the handicapped. Like when we go to the store and the electric shopping cart has been left unplugged. I have even threatened to tape a note to telling these people to plug the damn thing in when their finished.

Or those people that have a handicap plackard hanging from their rearview mirrow that they got because of grandma, and they think they can use everyplace they go. My wife can barely walk, and some idiot is using grandma's plackard because they are to lazy to walk.

I think a lot of it is jealousy, most people think cooking and cleaning is woman's work.

As far as the stepson, his mother and father were divorced when he was 2, and he was never around. So his mother raised him alone and I have to be careful how I treat that. Her son has been insulin since he was 2 1/2, and has been babied somewhat ever since. I do get after him when he runs around at night instead of coming home and watching his son.

The wife has had MS for about 12 years now, we have only been married 8 years, so I knew what I was gertting into. Hey handicapped people need someone too.
