i aint done a thing yet, still drinkin my coffee, but i got lots to do

I think it rained 4" this week, at least 2" yesterday. Last year we had a burn ban and couldn't even cook outside on the gtill, and this year we are getting way more than we need.

I know I have yellow squash, but it was so muddy I didn't pick any.

I guess I should have planted rice.

Sorry to hear about all the rain out east. I planted some more of the plants I started from seed a while back. I don't have any more room, but really don't have a choice they need to go somewhere. So I am trying to make them fit where ever I can. Next year I will be more organized. This was my first year starting from seed and obviously started too many and I'm not even sure they will look good all together. And the sad part is I think some of them won't bloom this year, which means I won't even see what they look like.

I am scared to go look at my veggie garden. Heavy rain all week sure has done a mess to it I'm sure.

Nuria, plant it all and move stuff around in the following year.

Forgot to mention in the above post the reason why I won't see what they look like. I am moving to Ontario. So I will have to start over, unless I get a house that is already landscaped. But what would be the fun in that. It looks like it's going to pour here. I might not have to water tonight. That would be a plus. OMG I have mixed feeling about thunder. It's thundering outside right now, I get excited and a little scared at the same time. That happen to anyone else?

I also picked a few blackberries today.

Cancolgirl send a bit of rain just a bit south if you don't mind. I won't mind having some right now. It's supposed to rain here tomorrow, but just a trace they say.

Well we got more than just rain. Actually I don't think it rained , but we did get hail the size of the big marbles. My poor tomatoe plants. Oh well, at least it's nice and sunny again. and i won't have to water. I sending the clouds south to those who requested rain.

My veggie garden looks pitiful.

We are thinking of Guelph. Close enough to TO for Jeff to get to work and close enough to my sister who lived in Kitchener.

I should've covered the tomatoes they took a beating. Hopefully they will recover.

I've got family in Guelph and Kitchener, cool.

Well, everything is certainly waterlogged, I'll have to wait a few days to really see what is damaged.

My tomatoes got rain too. Too much I think. They are crispy like they got really stressed. And of course the rain washed all the copper soap off of the peppers so they aren't doing well either. Just what I wanted was to have to spray them an extra time. Grrrrh. It's just not my year. My garden is a mess and I'm to sick to do anything about it.

I watered too. Picked a bunch of peas before the heat shrivels them. Raked out the grass BF weed wacked into the gardens. Got mad at Bambi, or was it thumper for eating my gazanzia to the ground. And asked my toms if they wouldn't mind growing fast for the next 2 days and produce some fruit please.

Well, so far I cut half my lawn cut. I came in for a sandwich and cookies before I tackle the rest.

I managed to water the entire garden. So you can tell I am feeling better. Everything is shriveled and looks just horrible except for the front containers and they are lush to say the least. And I figured out what was comming up. Evidently the wave petunias managed to self seed and so they are comming up among the thyme. And boy do they dislike being transplanted. But I'll continue to baby the three I transplanted and maybe I'll have some success. They were great plants last year in the spring and fall. They didn't like the summer in the containers to much but really made up for it in the fall.

Well yesterday I got the acre and a half cut, trimmed, weeded and manicured

I also divided and planted the new hosta I bought, there was three hostas in the one pot.

Today I am watching the rain fall.

I also need to dig the soil out from under the bird feeder and just replace it, it's a never ending fight with the wheat and millet. That birdseed should come with a warning on the bag. NOT FOR GARDEN FEEDERS.

We're hot here too . . . up to 33 celsius and it can go as much as 45 with the humidex.

Hot enough to stay in all day. Garden in the late afternoon or early evening.

Tamara, what do you mean about digging out the soil from under your birdfeeder?
What does "not for garden feeders" mean?

Oh, I thought that might be it but I wasn't sure.
I have my birdseed and water over rocks-the seeds do sprout but I let them because they provide fresh greens for the wild rabbits.
My birdfeeder and water are just large blue ceramic saucers, but I have quite a crowd at them all the time.

There's something kind of satisfying when weeds pull all the way out easily, know what I mean? Like after a rain.
Now watch, I'll get several urgent requests to come and weed....LOL !

I didn't do much today...most of my plants are shrivelled now, all except my Ipopemas, even my cannas are dun! two days ago, I managed to dig up a small garden bed, bout 1.5' by 7' took me forever to take off the turf

Nice thing about gardening is that every year it gets better. And that is a great start.

Well, I watched the rain fall. Looks like it might clear up a bit. Rain for tonight though.

We got rain last night. But not enough for the back garden. I watered the tomatoes and peppers but everything else is waiting for this evening.

rained here thank goodness---we were gonna have to water the grass--and now we don't-------------- yes!!!!

NO rain for us here, wouldn't mind some, but we're ok. Did a bit of weeding in the garden this morning, also organized and cleaned up all our jars getting everything ready for canning time.

My garden is beautiful this year too, just like you say tkhooper, it gets better every year.

i walked around the mud! got thunderstorms lastnight, lots of rain that we soooo needed,

Well, I got out in between the rain and dug sod off a new extension on my veggie garden. Added some manure and wood ash. Just gotta wait for it to dry up some so I can mix it in and plant some carrots and radish.

Oh, I also replanted bean pod seeds again. The grubs seem to like them best.

I'm exhausted and sore now after ripping the new pond apart and putting down landscape fabric. Don't know why we never thought of doing it in the first place during installation. What a job! Also planted some daylilies and hostas around it so it certainly looks a lot better now.

Got back out again and planted the carrots and radish, weeded everything and picked enough wild strawberries for another two bottles of jam.

well, the DH went out to "check" my cucumber plants for me--& much to my surprise brought back 5 cukes---and I am sad to say 3 of them are "over the hill"
but oh well if I cut them up, they will taste the same.
i think I am gonna try "pickling" some of the large ones in the ice box.

Hubby is rotter tilling the garden for me right now, with a sore mouth yet, he had to pull a tooth today, but he's out there helping me.

All this energy makes me absolutely possitive I'm a whimp. I managed to weed half my berm and that was it. I still have half to go. It's another week before I harverst the radishes. I couldn't even bring myself to look at the tomatoes.

It rained again last night but again it didn't penetrate.

It's a fantastic morning to get out into the garden. Not to hot at all. I got everything watered. I pruned back the sage that was encroaching on the peacock orchids space. Transplanted Thyme, Petunias and Oregano that had rooted in the peacock orchids place lol. And then replaced all the soil that I had to take out to do that. Those peacock orchids really have a run for their money in those containers. And then I pruned the pineapple mint. I wish the flavor hadn't changed on that one.

Then I weeded one of the areas that had just sprouted a whole new set of weeds. There are still more weeds than garden by the berm but I'll continue to work at it.

I still have weeding and compost turning to complete. But, I did as much as I could this morning.

Nothing today yet---But I need to putmy Wonder Egg Plants in bigger pots

yesterday I had my SIL put in a small trellis like fence to hold back my Gaura lindheimeri (Karalee Petite Pink) and i had my DH pick the Cukes that were ready.

Good news, good news!! I have a ripe tomato. The bad news?/ it is just a giant cherry. I have promised it to my daughtr (21)
