Will do as they come in! spring Migration starts this week and if I get a chance with all that's going on here I should have many posts. I would like to follow the season history of a bird nest on a daily basis if possible. I had 5-7 nests in my yard last year and have started looking today.

EARTH FIRST! (we'll strip-mine the OTHER planets later.)
No hummers for me yet. They tend to arrive in the highlands a bit later. I did buy a couple of hanging baskets to try to attract them though. A red wave petunia and a fuchsia.
Holy cow, one is already in PA! Go hummers, go! Fly your little butts up this way!
See Maryland? See the panhandle of it in the west? Well from the left I'm right there in that first dip, not the big one after it...that first one....out here in the mountains! I just can't wait to see my first one this year, I'm so excited!
Holy COW, one has been reported near me! That little red spot towards the panhandle of MD....looks more like it's near Winchester, VA---but that's still close. :thum:
Unbelievable! Yesterday one was sighted in Garrett County MD, which is right next to me and colder with a higher elevation....I need to get my feeders outside today!
I got one feeder hung outside.....I'll just leave that one out for right now until I see one! I'm so excited that they are in my area....I mean if it's cooler and higher in that county wouldn't you think they'd be here first?
On my BD the first one was spotted in Canada! I'm surprised this topic isn't more active....last year it was hopping. Someone has to have had some already.
Oh man! They have been spotted north of me already! I better get my feeders out tonight! Sure hope I see one soon! That is a sure sign of warm weather!
That's awesome Tonya! Tomorrow I'm going to clean and fill my other 3 feeders....I have a new one hanging up, but they are so territorial about their feeders I keep adding more each year.
I think it is very early for Hummingbirds here---I am thinking I need to wait for warmer weather, at least June---anyone live in central Illinois like me?--I do have my feeders all washed up & ready to be filled though--

Did you check out the map on the first post? Seems like they are moving awful early this year---there have been some sighting in Illinois already. I know that they are a bit early here. I think it was the 27th of April when I saw my first one last year.
I finally saw my first hummingbird today! It was 12 days later than last year. I submitted my report, but don't think I'll get on the map this year, as there are already others near me who are on the map.

I live in Minnesota and I don't think it is too early for them! I had them right around this time last year! Some have been spotted in the area already!
speaking of house wrens, how do I get some to come into my wren house--- this will be my 3rd season I have had this house up--so it is well weathered, and there are no takers. What am I doing wrong?

You are doing NOTHING wrong, Juni! All Wrens are fickle. Sometimes they'll nest in a house, sometimes not. Wrens often choose STRANGE places to nest. I have heard of them nesting in potted plants, old purses hanging in a garage, an old BOOT once. Just today, one of our members on birdersworld.com forum reported a Carolina Wren nest ing in the sailboat parked in his driveway for the second year in a row. Just hang up a VARIETY of containers around your house porch yard and/or outbuildings, and see what happens. I hung up a satellite TV cable spool in my back yard and already have evidence of Wrens (or something) trying to nest there.

I was looking out the kitchen window this morning and caught a tiny flash of red in the lilac bushes. It was the male ruby throated hummer!!!!! I have been so entertained by the gold finches that I was not on the lookout for the hummers yet. My feeders are out and I hope they become regulars again.
I almost forgot to put my hummer feeders out this week, but did 2 days ago, and this morning I saw my first one on the feeder in the front - YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
They are so reliable - it has been sometime this week for the past 6 years - AMAZING!
I just looked it up, and they have arrived on this exact day both in 2002, and 2005 also - WOW!

I have had my feeders out for a while now loz! I had them out before I went to Florida just in case they came while I was gone. Then they could have something to eat!
