yeah,,,I get excited when here night temps of 70 or lower, but it won't go below 70 hardly now till at least middle of sept...maybe.I'm enjoying the rain showers(but please don't tease me saying 60% chance, did get a 30 minute shower& when the power went out was not even raining..the woods CAN suck at times.)
Its my lil burros tail. flowers/June162007burrotailhangingpot.jpg" alt="[Linked Image]" class="post-image" style="height:auto!important;max-width:100%!important;"/> I thought I'd show it before I killed it or the dog played with it.In the pot below it I think that sprouting at the front is a pipevine.I actually sowed it last year, but grew purple passion in this and forgot to bring it in on a frosty night.I've potted the sweedish ivy up since this shot. Those blooms it gets?I cut one off and left some stem and rooted it& in the last month it like took off growing like mad.
I will age ungracefully until I become an old woman in a small garden..doing whatever the Hell I want!
I had written up a post with these pictures last night, but must not have hit submit, 'cause I couldn't find it shortly after ... so here goes again...
Here is my campanula that I posted the other day, only this time the blooms are wide open.
And my prickly pears are finally in bloom - YEA!
Gotta love that bright yellow! Too bad the flowers only last ONE day!
Not sure how big they get - that is the same one I have, so I can check the tag later on.
Have you rubbed the leaves on the Russian Sage? When I first bought my 2 (only one survived the first year) I had planted them up by the driveway, but the smell was sooooo strong (I really dislike the smell of sage ever since having lived in Reno with the tumbling sage and the VERY strong smell!), that I had to move them down by the shed. The one is barely hanging on now 3 summers later - they were HUGE when I bought them!
Finally I could get in the back yard and wade thru the 'swamp! Toooo Much rain here!!!! I don't know when this candystripe Zinna bloomed it looks like it was a few days ago But I was excited to see it and hopefully I'll get more!!
The tree ring in the front yard is okay it seems to be benefiting from all this rain

My lilies opened today and I'm not pleased at all. They are a pale pink color, actually they kind of look sick. They were supposed to be the stargazer lily, almost pink like yours Lynne.
Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
Lynne it depends on who you ask. The town supervisor says theyre donated. But theres a group of people who water etc and they get paid, tax money. ANd the T.S. is a bit of a 'fibber'. Theres also a Phoenicia beautification committee who goes around asking some of the businesses for donations, so thats a part of it too. And when they organize garden tours I think thats the same group. All I know is I'm gettin free, or paid for by my tax dollars, seeds this fall. Unless the "committee" or workers chop everything to the ground in the fall. Idiots were pinching back coleus in the planter on the deck last year. Not theirs to touch much less to decide how to deadhead or prune them. I was going to let a couple go for seed. Guess not. They touch my dahlias this year and someone is going to get hurt.
rose i have the pink staregazer lilys too, mine still have the buds no blooms yet, wonder why yours got pale? my allium drumsticks, and tall garden phlox have started bloomin
Datura moon flowers are putting on a show tonight , Now really clear pictures I wanted to be quick about it the mesquitos were kicking my butt out there!!!

WOW Diane - they must be gorgeous up close and personal - I can just imagine how bright they look in the night - do you have a light out there nearby so you can enjoy them from inside?
I moved to my home two years in August. I installed a 10 x 20 raised bed in the backyard last year. The only plants in the back yard were a few hosta and a very large orange lily (the old fashioned kind you see on the side of the road). Well I love flowers so I put this bed together last year, this year the plants are HAPPY! I can't believe how much it has filled in, in just a year. My project this year are two more beds in the back yard and completely re-landscaping the front yard.
I took a picture of the backyard bed, I am really happy with how it looks. I am thinking I will have to thin it a bit next year.
I have a long way to go but its nice to come out and sit on the patio and relax with my new view. ;)

awsome job on your raised beds iheartflowers i have tons of the old fashion lilys from m gram [ground cover lilies]
Hee Hee, I actually have, it was a horrendous front yard, three half dead christmas shaped evergreeen plopped in front. I had those pulled last year and planted a Pagota Dogwood, Magnolia, Japanese Maple, and burning bush. I planted bulbs too. Now I am transplanting perennials slowly. It looks pretty sad, but hoping in a couple of years it will fill and expand. I have an ugly chimney that was never completed, but I want a new kitchen before I pay money on that thing, so it will be that way for a long time.
This is the before, last year:
This is a photo from this year:
I would like to expand the beds out even more, but I am trying to be more frugal with the plant purchases, so its a slow process. I will be doing more splitting next year and move more up front.
I should add, my house is a small cottage style, I bought it for the big yard. So I am trying to keep the plantings more in the cottage style as well. I was thinking adding foxgloves, phlox, and maybe some knockout roses next year? I have just moved a clump of iris, a few types of day lilies, hosta, coridalis (sp - can't remember how to spell it), monarda, and daisies, hoping they will start to either spread or form larger clumps.

Veeeery nice. The bee balm will spread quickly. So will the iris and daisies. That will look so nice when all that is blooming! I have been trying to take over my yard with garden. The more flowers the less grass to cut. You can always get seeds & cuttings for perrenials in the seed exchange area.
This dahlia I had last year has bloomed this year one of the dahlia's from the same plant had some white on it ( posted earlier) And now there is one that is a very very very pale creamy lavender from the same plant
This dahlia is on another stock of the same plant!
Here are some snapdragons that has survived all the rain we've had! YAY
