We are making a patio this weekend in front of our sunroom by the front door. We can't come to an agreement on which pavers, bricks, stones, etc., to use; so I told my husband to just plant it back to grass - I give up! Well - that sparked an idea and I went searching in a magazine and found a picture, a checkerboard patio, using 16-inch pavers and every other 'spot' is either grass or pebbles or recycled glass (still trying to find this!), low growing plants, etc. So - I'm excited to do this! Anyone have this already and have any pictures, ideas, or tips?
Wow!! That sounds totally cool... You guys have seen it done.. but I never have! I hope you post pics as you go along!!! I am very interested in seeing how it works out!! That would be really neat to do in an unused area.. to keep it nice and tidy.. not trampled by every day feet!!
It's in full sun, so thought a lot of pavers would be too hot, don't plan on putting furniture or anything here, but next year I would like to put up a pergola and maybe a nice bench of some sort.
I know what it's like to sit in the hot full sun without a pergola overhead. Our deck is in full sun, and it really is terrible during 100+ weather (like we have been having). I can't wait until we have the $$$ to rebuild our deck so we are covered and have more room for ourselves out there!
