I would love to see pictures of others daylilies. Are the oldfashioned orange considered daylilies? Mine are just starting to bloom.
I took this picture last year of my cat hunter with the old fashioned orange in the foreground. This plant came with the house. I am really happy with its hardiness.
I ended up splitting off five plants from this clump and planted them along the front of the (dog) fencing, since I think its kind of ugly. It used to be an old driveway so the soil was packed gravel and sand. I dug five holes and filled with topsoil and the plants. I am so pleased as two of the five are actually sending out blooms this year. I really like tough plants.
Other daylilies, Stella D'Oro, some dark gold ones (didn't write down the name) that I am waiting to bloom, maroon that I split off and is happily blooming, lemon yellow, Guardian Angel: Unknown:
I would love to see yours!

Thanks Wrennie! I love them because they are cheerful, have good height and are varied in color. They are hard to kill, and easy to split and move around. I like dependable flowers.
Dodge the Stella D'Oro is a constant rebloomer which is why it is so popular. But just like other perennials most daylilies bloom at certain times ie Jun-July etc and that's it. That's why I try to find the early mid and late bloomers to I have a constant supply of them.

Hooray..........hoorayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy I found the USA.. Now I know what I am doing......Ha ha Raising asiatic lilys......Would you believe, the first one given to me about 4 years ago , I said I don't like lilys......My sister nearly fell over.. I took it and raised it and look at me today. The one she gave me was scented......In another bed.. These arent.
They do bloom for a long spell , and not all at the same time.. The pastels are gorgous, I think.. I have others in another bed , not in bloom.......
And the daylilys are probably more gorgous colors.
I put a couple of daylilies from here in my town down in this thread--> //www.agardenersforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/89603/page/1#Post89603
Here is the first bloom on my daylily this year. I should have divided it earlier in the season, but I was waiting for the pond gardens to be dug out - since Don is still working on the pond, that will still have to wait for a while...
This is the daylily I bought on Sunday, it seems very similar to yours Jiffymouse, it's called Pink Attraction:
I have been waiting impatiently for the blooming of this daylily! I bought it last year, forgot the name, but LOVED the brilliant golden color, it's my favorite. (shhh don't tell the other daylilies)
I have to run back to the nursery and try to match it with one there. It's a daylily, different foliage.
Here's a photo showing the leaves better.
Yes, there is yarrow growing next to it. It's a very light color yellow. I just hacked out about 2/3 of it as it was flopping and looking sloppy. It looked like someone sat their hiney on the plant an flattened most of the blooms. It seems to grow back anyway and bloom again. I like yarrow for its toughness, I hate when it flops though.

Ohhh all the beautiful Daylilies. I love Daylilies because they are so hardy and easy. I grow them all though. Daylilies, Asiatic, Orientals. They all have a special place in my garden. I have them so that they are blooming from May - Sept.
Here are some Daylilies, they are so different you can have spiders, doubles some with pretty deep color eyes. LOL
cinta ....... YOur a gem............ I love yours and mine and everyone elses on here......Lilies....... I am big on Asiatic......SOme even has a perfumy smell.. One new one bloomed today.........I have to up load it .........
Now tell me which ones bloom in May??????I am in the market for early ones. Mine are probably June starts and are still going as I speak......
I have early, early daylilies that usually bloom by Memorial Day.
If you have flowers that look like your Asiatic blooming now they are probably Orientals.
Asiatic bloom first (general little or no fragrance) June-July Oriental Bloom next (Fragrant to knock you socks off Fragrance) July-Aug
This is one of my Oriental Lilies blooming now and you can smell it 100' away. I cannot get close to it because the fragrance is too strong and my allergies kick in. But it is a beautiful fragrance far away.
I took this picture in the evening beautiful fragrance and glows in the dark.
When you are buying the lilies look to see if they say Asiatic or Oriental, Orientpet another fragrant Late bloomer or LA.
I Love daylilies too! I'm just hooked on them...Iris also...but daylilies are so much easier to grow! My "Darla Anita" daylily opened again today...beautiful and loads of ruffles! I sure wish the blooms lasted more than one day tho...
I am not sure but I do think the Asiatic lily which I raise do last more than a day ..Blooms.
I do the Asiatic most cause I arent wild about all the leaves on daylilys..Asiatic goes straight up an blooms on top... I will be lost when my last ones are done......Oriental just opened and there are 2 more types left to go .
Found the tag for this daylily, its called September Gold (unreg.) blooms in July and August. Doesn't everything look all sad around it, its so dry. I just gave everything a drink today including my young trees I planted last year.
No rain for serveral days here......I have a large plastic rain barrel I catch the rain off the roof and use it to water with....about 3 feet tall and from soda pop mix of some sort.
