I would love to plant snapdragon seeds - the rocket type, do these bloom the first year I seed them? Do they start from seed pretty easy?

They bloom first year and they are very easy. They are an annual. I started mine indoors but I'm not even sure that is necessary. Mine were partial shade loving and bloomed and bloomed in the spring and then came back in the fall. They don't like the heat of summer. At least mine didn't. they produce lots of seeds so that you can let them self seed or you can harvest the seeds.

Tammy I have a question for you, where are the seeds. Mine have bloomed since I got the plant, but I can't figure out where or how to get the seeds. I am loving it because they are so nice and even tho they've almost died on me, because of sever weather (snow and hail) they are blooming again.

After it blooms you will see what looks like a weird alien helmet form where the flower was. Once this turns brown harvest it. Inside you will find the seeds. I have heard it described as a skull too and that's not to far off the mark either.

Thanks Tammy I'll be looking for that then. I can see something alien looking but none have turned brown yet.

I'm glad you were able to identify the pod from my discription. Watch them carefully because once they turn brown they drop their seeds pretty quickly.
