I know it's VERY expensive, but I'm completely fascinated by this indoor garden system. My girlfriend up the street has one (her children bought it for her, I should be so lucky!!). It now comes with a strawberry seed kit, too. Anyone have info for me?? What do you think of this product??

it doesn't even seem right. it says totally organic, but how could you have "organic" plant food without soil or compost?

The system is 'aeroponics'. Water and nutrient tablets are needed, dropped in the pre-seeded 'all-natural' pods...I don't know much about it. Other than, my girlfriend's Aerogarden was spilling over with fresh grown herbs...She's a gourmet cook, so I was pretty impressed as she cut up fresh grown herbs...with no soil!!!

I say "BAH!" to the heretical gardening system!

The infomercials DO look intriguing, but I'd rather grow my own just for the sheer satisfaction of it all! Give me a .50 pack of seeds, a little potting soil and a sunny window any day!

Somehow the idea of plants growing in water grosses me out.

I say you could just make a system like that yourself. It would be as ooh or ahh, but it'll be the same thing. Just look it up online!

I've been debating one of these myself..but honestly, I would only use it for salad greens and maybe herbs. The Tomatoes that they show growing are Cherry tomatoes and I'm not really a big fan of them. My only reservation is my cat. She likes to hop up on the counter and chew whatever it is I have growing...I come home and see her teeth marks in my Basil.

And tomato plants are poisonous and about the last thing you want your cat around.
I watched a QVC presentation of the Aero Garden, and not once did anyone warn about the tomatoes being highly toxic to kids and pets.

tomatos (the fruit) are not poisinous, but I believe that the leaves are. that's why until the early 1900s people didn't eat tomatos, their livestock grazed on the leaves and died

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

adding to that kenny, tomotoes are part of the nightshade family. AND, when pewter was a popular metal for plates, bowls and cups, the acid in tomatoes leached out the lead in it, causing all tomato based foods eaten to cause lead poisoning.
