Well today before this ear ache got to be to much for me I managed to weed around the tulips. It doesn't look like they appreciated it. Or it may just be that it got way to hot by afternoon. Because they were all leaning over. I'll cross my fingers that they will come back and I will get blooms this year. I didn't get any last year but then I had treated them very badly so I can't really blame them.
Well let's see. Did a little deadheading on some of my kalanchoes, bleeding heart and a few bromeliad bracts. Witnessed new growth in many pots in my garden today. And of course, gave all my plants a good drink of water. :)
I brought the new gnome outside and am still scoping a new home for him; took some pictures to cheer Bill up, god knows he's been stressed out lately and needs to be cheered up ;)...

James, it's not a gnome--it's a Willy! A Wild Willy! ;) What does your Willy look like?
I got some stuff done outside today, I put out a few of my yard decorations--I seriously have probably close to 100 things to put out. Statues, spinners, etc.
I did a bit of weeding in the bed near the pathway, and I moved the rest of the mosquito fish out to the pond.
Everyday now I walk around and check out the plants popping back to life.....sedums, Hollyhocks, hostas, etc. And I check on the bulb progress.
Filled the feeders and washed out the birdbath too!
I watered my pepper and eggplant pots under lights, and my broccoli and cabbage plants outdoors and the newly planted seedbeds. I set out my big early tomato plants for 6 hours to continue hardening them off. Then I finished pruning my apple trees, and pruned my grapes this afternoon. I also took a tour of my daffodil beds.
My nieces fav. Willy is the butt mooning Willy Bill sent us.....she laughs and laughs...and the other day she set him a different way and said look he's using the bathroom.
I did some light weeding and then transplanted some of my gazillion phlox and bee balm seedlings. Oh, and I glared at my very leggy tomatoes. Bad tomatoes! Put on leaves!
I watched the snow fall. But I cleaned out my fridge and made it to my composter with lots of goodies. And I also watered all the plants growing under lights. I can't wait 'til there is no more snow.
Yesterday I planted 6 dahlias, and moved 4 elephant ear bulbs, today I'll plant 2 0r 3 more dahlia but I have to prepare the area first~ that takes the longest and hardest of the work, but I'll Git'er done I'm also going to place more willy's outside!!

i can't wait to show everybody pics of what i did over the weekend. i took 6 days off and FINALLY put in my small waterfall and stream to the pond from last year....then, i bought another pond! that makes 3 so far! i still have to get more dirt, and then put in plants, but it is on the way! i will see if i can get them loaded for ya!
wow fairywatcher that sounds fantastic. Can't wait to see pictures.
Today so far I went out and saw that I had one tulip bloom. That is so cool. And the white Hycinth is almost ready to bloom it's separated all it's little flower parts so tomorrow I think I'll see the bloom woohoo.
I dug in lots of compost so I could plant my cukes and cantaloupes. Finished planting tomatoes. Then I weeded my flowerbeds so I could finish putting out fresh mulch. Got lots of blooms--really need to get pics to post--they are looking sooo gooood! LOVE spring :)
Well, look on the bright side. When y'all finally get your spring, I'll probably be doing a slow roast outside :( When it gets to the 95 to 100 degree mark and the humidity is so thick we could cut it with a knife, I have to get out to work in my garden by 5:30 to 6 a.m.! I don't even enjoy getting out on the riding mower to cut the grass anymore when it's that hot!
me too penny! im itchin to plant! i weeded my rose bed outch! got jiged a few times, worked more on the brug bed, bb supervied me! lol, she's getting bossy in her 4 year old year! :)
i looked @ my daffodil's hoping they would magically sprout flowers in front of my eyes i'm not a patient person but i see them growing more and more everyday otherwise most everything else is ready to have stuff planted just has to warm up a bit ~

HI all...would love to have your rain...we are having snow today. Talk about a cup of hot cocoa and some hot soup for supper.
It's nice to read of all the plants going in your gardens already. I won't even think of that till about the middle of May, maybe even early June around here.
Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
I had some Fresh Lettuce, Spinach, and Green Onions in my salad last night. I have my second bunch of Asparagus ready to go. I planted Corn, Green beans and my herbs yesterday, and got the Strawberry Bed ready. My Squash is producing, and my Mustard Greens are ready for picking.
I just hope we don't get another frost.

Yes, this is a really good topic. It's hard for me to fathom that some people still have snow on the ground. We had to mow the yard today for the first time this season. I sprayed my peonies that are up from 2 to 10 inches tall with Bourdeax powder. I finally was successful after three different sprayers over the years getting clogged up. I asked a horicultural friend of mine how to prevent the clogging problem. Her idea really worked. Mixed the powder into rather warm water, let it cool down, shook it up and put in 1 "squirt" of diswashing soap to act a binder and to prevent the powder from clogging. It worked. Hope it works good to prevent the "blight" on my peonies. Does anyone have any experience with this theory? thanks.
