yes hawkmoth humminbird clearwing vine spinx tobbacco spinx I forget what the yellow one was.I'll look through file.I also had one similar to the rustic spinx, but was white with black.I wish i'd took a picture...maybe next year.Hawkmoths like beer besides flowers.I've watched a hummingbird clearwing on 4 pm flower while it was closed very neat.it will take it feet to spread flower enough to stick in and get a drink.& on my B&B salvia.I've never seen them go to the feeders. whats weird...I see baby hawkmoths sometimes.

Cool pics, we have moths like that here. Some are prettier than butterflies.

My butterfly bushes are bringing in an assortment of flying critters. Yesterday there were 2 hummingbirds going at each over them and there were also several of the hummingbird moths as well as butterflies. I have hummingbird feeders, but they are going for the butterfly bushes, tall garden phlox, impatiens, the black and blue salvia, and the delpheninum.

The legislature here in Tennessee outlawed the growing or possession of Salvia in Tennessee because it is a Hallucinogenic. I had Salvia last year for the Hummers, but couldn't get it this year. Darn It! After the hummers fed on the Salvia they were SOOO cute lying on my porch, pupils dilated and all glassy-eyed, saying, "Oh, WOW Man! Look at all the colors and trails, Man! That's HEAVY!"

Thorny, lots of Salvia here.(I'll have to hide it on brother-in-law now ) So you can't have it in your gardens at all?

not all of it is that way.Just the divinorum. There's over 900 different salvia plants, some are edible herbs& sage you can buy at grocery store. My sis lives TN and grows some salvias/sages in her own yard.some shes collected wild near the house and areas she frequents.I believe my brother grows some of my forest fire salvia on his porch in planterboxs. He's M'buro. Tn has had some intresting politions..
I'm loading shots now.I caught the hummermoth last night.I think my flash bothers him.makes him fly like he's drunk(they must prefer cans over bottled beer)They are smart buggers. He knows now that when he sees orange light....FLYAWAYFASSSSSSSSSSSSSST!!!!! flash is comeing. Its like now he sees the orange light before the flash and don't like it so he flees.I'll try to catch them earlier.I cooked later so was out later.

Apparently they outlawed all species of Salvia, although I don't see how they can enforce the ban; the other states around us allow Salvia without restrictions. We are 20 to 30 minutes south of Kentucky and 1 hour north of Alabama here.

this is the one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvia_divinorummaybe THIS http://www.erowid.org/psychoactives/law/states/states_info1.shtmlwill help you out.I thought they would not ban over 900 plants. so grow your other salvias! here's another shot flowers/July182007hummermothin4pmswhitespec.jpg" alt="[Linked Image]" class="post-image" style="height:auto!important;max-width:100%!important;"/> and another flowers/July182007hummermothfeeding.jpg" alt="[Linked Image]" class="post-image" style="height:auto!important;max-width:100%!important;"/>

My driveway is littered with luna moth wings, the phoebes eat the body. There must have been about 50 of them this year. I have them on the garage door from spring to early summer.

I had a hummingbird moth end up in the house. I think he was in more than a day.He seemed to fly off like he was drunk& impaired. He did check me out before flying off.I caught him on ceiling with a shirt and closed around him to gt him outside and let him loose in front of 4 pms.He just sat there a sec then took off and was haveing problems staying in air but then flew off finally(stopping at non nectoring flowers.I think he went off to rest in lilyrope& assume was fine. I found a dead hawkmoth...took advantage. face shot (don't that remind ya of a dragonfly?)
