I admit I have the remarkably bad habit of reading posts without my glasses. This sometimes makes for interesting interpretations of finer print items. For the longest time I thought Barley's name was Barley-CLOWN. Then I put my glasses on! But on another forum I emailed regularly with a woman whose screen name I THOUGHT was TIDEAN, which I read as "Tidy Ann". Again, no glasses. Until finally she asked me why I always called her Tidy Ann? It was actually TLDEAN....her initials and last name strung together! Somehow "Tracy" didn't suit her as well as my Annie had!!! Who said KISS?! Merme

Merme I am afraid that no one would believe it, Merme! They know me too well. Thanks for the thought, though. This is the real (Lil' Lady) Dixie Angel: Dianna

I guess I just don't pay good attention, because I never noticed princessAZLEA's spelling- been reading Princess Azalea the whole time. And for several months, I think I called Suzydaze "Sunny". My favorite name, though, has to be Bess of the Piedmont. It just sounds so regal, somehow.

I know! I know, I love Miss Bess's name too! You are right, it is so regal and wholesome in it's simplicity. It conjurs up all kinds of great imagery in my head.
I must say, Geegeeburr, your name is adorable now that you've told us it's history. You must have been a sweet child for your dad to invent the original version!

Mine is just my initials and my ex's last name (i kept it cause i like it).
Usually as people come to know me they come up with their own nicknames for me, so I pretty much answer to anything.

Maybe that's why I love Meg's screen name so much!Merme Why thank you Merme. (And in my head, I'm still saying your name the wrong way, it rolls off my brain's tounge easier for me that way..lol.) NOW, I have to tell you this.. when I signed up on here, almost a year ago, I couldn't think of a good name. Every message board I post on is usually some part of my name, and maybe my birthyear (1970). So, I was trying to be "original". I came up with a name, but ended up not liking it that much.. it was kinda lame, and too long. Then, in signing up, it asked me what I want my screen name to show as.. so instead of my "signup name", my screen name, is just simply, my name. Or, nickname anyway. The screenname I chose? cluelessinwestva  Maybe I could fit a few more of those graemlins if I tried..lol. Meg

Oh Jiffymouse ! I have been enamored of The Chronicles of Narnia for nearly my entire life and Maxi has been loving those wonderful stories since age 4.
What's there not to like about anything c.s.lewis wrote, I always wonder?

I feel like I'm coming into this thread a little too late! But, I will tell you about my name. I use "hisgal" for alot of things that I do online. It reminds me of Stephen...because, well, I'm simply his girl. We used to tease back and forth while we were dating and one day he screwed his words up and called me his "gal"...I remember that fondly and that's why I use that name. The 2 on the end of it is my favorite number. 1 is lonely and 3 is a crowd.....2 is just perfect.

Hi Jenn ~ Thanks for the clarification! I thought the 2 stood for something else. I thought it meant you were Hisgal (Stephen's gal) AND Hisgal (God's gal) at least, that's how I always read it! Merme

Merme Hmmmmm... Well, not to hear my parents tell it. Merme, I love your interpretation of Jenn's name! You were really creative with that. I always thought hisgal was like Meg-- self-explanatory, and straight to the point.

Weezie, I had to chuckle when I saw your post because early this morning when I read the previous post, I thought "Not Weezie's!" It's ok, my friend, you can keep your secret but tell me, is it ok if we spend time trying to guess?! My first guess is that you are a tiny person, which explains the "Wee" part. And your last name is something unpronouncable that begins with ZIE such as "Ziefersnitchelbeginsteinovich", so you shorten it to Zie for all of us who don't speak that language! So how'd I do? Merme

Ya know, we could probably guess until we're blue in the face and then MAYBE we'd get it....but then she probably wouldn't tell us if we got it right, so we wouldn't know it and would just keep guessing and guessing and guessing forever and ever ***takes a deep breath*** and ever and then we'd never know her secret.... ok...sorry...WAY too much caffeine tonight!!! So, I used to be called Weezie. Its because my middle name is Louise and they just thought it was funny to call me that.

This whole thread is just fun to read! And I feel like I know you all now.
My real name is Fern and friends and family call me Fernie as a cutsy nickname now and again. Most my online friends call me Spud because I am from Idaho, eventhough I don't live within 600 miles of a spud farm.

My dad plants veggies but my mom cares for them. And mom is the queen strawberry grower of her little town. She has a small flower garden in front of her house and that is it. I am a throw back to my peasant ancestors I would suppose.

Okay, here's a crazy one for you! Although it is kind of along the same line as Jenn's....... My husband and I send/exchange cards to each other..a lot. We frequantly include a passage of scripture from the Song of Solomon because we just love the way they so romanticly describe their love for each other. Chapter 5 verse 10 she describes her lover as white and "ruddy". My husbands name is Rufus..(which we don't particularly care for) so one day I looked up the meaning of his name and one of the sir names for Rufus is Rudy (like judy with an "R") so, that is what I call him, but spell it like it is in the scripture with 2 r's....the # 4 is just so he knows that everything I do is "4" him. Crazy I know! He actually calls me his "Shulamite" woman, because we met at church and the sermon the night we met was about the custom of the groom going to prepare a home for his Shulamite woman. My grandkids all call me "Mammers"...a name given to me by my youngest son. When he played football..I fed the entire team on many occassions and I don't know how they came up with that one...but that is what they football team called me and even at their graduation a lot of the boys had no clue what my real name was! Peanut,(Taylor) our adopted grand baby came by his nick name because he had to have some major surgery at six weeks...and when he came out of surgery his little body was completely shaped different...he looked like a little "Peanut"...now when someone calles him Taylor....he just looks at them crazy!
