4 Rudy-the devil works over time on Sundays!!

I believe that GOD would be happy if we were able to keep one day truly holy, no matter which day of the week it is!

Thank you hinda for your input. I was really hoping you would pop in and let us know how you observed the Sabbath. It is very enlightening to me to see how that is followed where you are.

Thanks for that post Vanessa. I want to teach the kids that cuz it will help them in their prayers.

Well...I look at things kinda crazy sometimes...but we are instructed to "tithe" our 10%...well, I have ALWAYS been taught that it is NOT just our money we are to tithe of...but our time, our talents...all of the things that God "gives" us...so part of the gathering together with other believers I believe is part of our tithing. If you put it on paper...Sunday morning service doesn't EVEN come close to a 10th of our time we give back to God. Certainly other things are accountable for out time...prayer time,Bible study, fellowship, even simple things like taking care of the Earth and it's beauty that has been provided for us...but certainly one of my favorites is going to church..

I feel like I am home when I am in church. Had to miss for 2 weeks while I was with my folks and then we don't have "the works" on Christmas and New Years - no SS or evening service so it wasn't until this week that I felt like I was back in the swing of things and I missed it. I think the Sabbath offers a renewing of our minds as well as our spirits

Never though about it that way Vanessa. Often there is no money to give but you can ALWAYS give of yourself and help others.

Yep today I rescued a high chair and cleaned it up. It is like new. So I offered it on freecycle. Hopefully someone can use it.

We meet on the 'first day of the week' just as the early disciples did . It was never called 'the sabbath' .
Paul said , " Let no one act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day - things which are a shadow of what is to come ; but the body belongs to Christ ." Colossians 2:16,17

I wonder when Sunday began to be called the Sabbath in the Christian community. That's what it was always referred to when I was growing up but I don't think I refer to it as the Sabbath much even when I'm saying "because we don't do that on the Lord's day".

I believe that Sunday services began due to the fact that Jews were persecuted for following the Sabbath. And then when the Romans became Christians it was easier for them to continue their worship on Sunday, the day they had already devoted to worshipping the Sun.

We call it "the Lord's day " , too , since it was the day the Lord was resurrected .

Marian...we refer to it as the "Lord's" Day as well. I have some friends that are Seventh Day Advents and they always refer to the "Sabbath"..
Hub is VERY particular as to what we can or cannot fo on Sunday...he will NOT hunt or fish or do any activity that would cause him to miss a Sunday service. We also try to visit a church in the area if we are traveling or visiting somewhere...and that is REALLY fun....
We ahve had to miss a lot of church lately since we have had such a hard time getting the baby settled in and we have to be cautious about "new things"...he does not transition well at all so we are having to take thigns real slow since the move. I just know that I really miss attending church services and will be really glad when we can get back in the swing of things.

I have also been meanig to ask ....when do you all, or do you have a daily Bible study or devotional time?
