According to eNature.com's online insect guide, that is a female Common Whitetail Dragonfly. Go to eNature.com to check it out. They have the BEST online guides to identify ANY plant, animal, bird, fish, amphibian, reptile, or insect, native to North America. By using the Advance Search mode, you can GREATLY reduce the number of choices of what you are looking for by using their fill in the blank methods.

Jiffy and Weezie I think it's cool I can enjoy seeing the same Dragon fly that you two have in your part of the U.S. !!!!! It's becoming a habit >everytime I go outside the camera goes with !!

I would really love to capture a picture of red ones and the jeweled ones here,, they are simply beautiful! But Dang they fly sooo fast! I got lucky with that picture!!

I keep My digital in my pocket 24/7. The best way to get a Dragonfly to sit still for you is to go fishing. They Will ALWAYS fly by and land with their wings spread, right on the tip of your fishing pole! laugh
