. They say that someday I will go bionic, but they will never operate on me again! You sound like John. He could end up needing a bone marrow transplant. But when I told him that meant chemo/radiation to kill off his defective marrow, he nixed the idea. No chemo for him. He'd rather die. And he just might.

My oldest daughter told me a few months back that she thinks I'm manic depressive. I told her to remember that the next time she needs a babysitter. That if I were her I wouldn't want to leave my children with a crazy lunatic. She never mentioned it again.

If I told Mommy she was a crazy lunatic, she'd probably take it as a compliment.

WOW Bill - you are so lucky that you are not paralyzed!!! Not that you are lucky to have gone through all that at all, but it could have turned out so much worse - really! Thank you for the explanation, though you didn't need to give one, it helps clear up some questions I'm sure we've all had. I'm so glad you see the bright side to it also - the tiny flowers you might have stepped on otherwise, and the fact that you can still do it all, even though it takes more time. Keep on keepin' on Bill!

Cindy, John has aplastic anemia. His bone marrow is not making enough blood. We don't know why. And may never know why. They are thinking agricultural chemicals but he has always been pretty careful with those. Now because you never read back, I am PMing this to you, too.

WOW Bill - you are so lucky that you are not paralyzed!!! Doctors said they didn't understand how i even lived when they checked the x-ray. Guess they didn't know how ornery I was.... I was pretty PO'd at the guy who caused the accident, so it was a wise choice to keep me in traction for a while.

As well as not making enough blood John also has some internal bleeding somewhere. That may be caused by the anemia. He swallowed a camera yesterday to check his small intestine and should get the results of that soon. He's been averaging a little better than two pints a week in transfusions. He will need to give himself vitamin B12 shots for the rest of his life.

Gee Tina, that's a lot to deal with. You always have the best attitude.
Cindy always has a good attitude too but she's been in the lead paint which explains a LOT.

He won't do that, but thank you, Cindy. He won't BECAUSE it involves chemo and he is absolutely against that. He has severe 'quality of life' issues.

Bill ~ I just got back on -- It has been a very long evening of homework for both Maxi and I! So I'm just now reading what you posted earlier.
I for one am very glad you did survive an accident of that magnitude, though I can only guess at the pain you've endured.
I'm also sorry you were a victim of armchair psychology by an untrained "psychologist"! "Rumor has it" is never the way to start a conversation I want to hear...
Take care, my friend.

Gee Tina, that's a lot to deal with. You always have the best attitude. I spent half the afternoon giggling over my son's kneecap falling off. Like a cartoon. Some people wouldn't think that was such a great attitude. But for me, giggling is a stress reducer. After an event is over, I giggle. I really can't help it. And it does help me. And Ted was giggling with me.

I always look down where each foot is going to step and because of that I have found many tiny, rare flowers and plants that very few people will ever see in a lifetime! I can still do everything I used to do, but it takes a lot longer to get stuff done... Sometimes the pain makes me a lil cranky tho... thats why ya should never poke bears and grouchy old farts! Triss diagnosed my pain induced crankies as me being bi-polar and spread that rumor to many members here, which is why Triss is no longer welcome here. (the secret no one knew, but everyone wondered about til right now) I am not bi-polar, but I think she is a friggin psycho! Oh Man I had a late start getting on here tonight BUt I at least got to see one of the more important post of the day.. Upon meeting you Bill right away I noted you to be a kind good Man,, How 'She' reached out and diagnosed bi-polar from... is beyond reality,, Just alone by you looking down as each step is taken , careful not to crush anything of beauty tells us ALL how gentle natured you are,and how insync with nature your heart is,, and pointing out things in the woods and the mountains told me how generous you are to share your knowledge,, I'm so Blessed to have Meet the Superlative Gentle gnome of CedarHill

First let me say I have not been on much today--- Bill I have just been reading back--WOW you are one lucky gnome !! So lucky just to be alive. I bet your x-rays are something to behold. I am so glad for you that you came out of them as well as you did. And I want to thank you for explaining about Triss, and about your accidents. It was very kind of you to do that for us. Take care----

it is funny how the people that start and spread rumors are the ones that usually end up wondering why no one likes them!?!?!
