I am looking for some info on my orchids. I have used just water on these. Is there any nutrients that they need then what the water is just giving them?. Is there anything I can but to help them along. They are about a few years old and I would like to keep them going to see the next bloom if that will even happen at this point?.
Thanks Dakota

Well, you know what they say: if you don't have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me!
I think it all depends on the type of orchid you have. I read somewhere before that certain orchids like phalenopsis and dendrobiums need a long night and short day to bloom (like poinsettias, and mums) and that explains why they're so common during the winter months. This is a good site to check out: http://www.beautifulorchids.com/orchids/orchid_care_tips/faq/frequently_asked_questions.html I killed my orchids with too much love and not enough sunlight, they're way tougher than I thought, not so delicate!

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
My orchid just started to bloom today.......again I use deleted miracle grow once a month.........
I have the white Phale.. from Lowes.. on my 3rd year.......No problem if you put that on the south window with no sun. Read the label and follow the directions.. They arent hard to do.
We need to know the KIND of orchid you have. It matters. I can say a north window for any of them is NOT enough, even Phals would need moderate bright (no sun) light.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
