I was looking through some gardening catalogs from 2008 and am keeping an eye out for things that I want for next year. I used a lot of money buying houseplants (which most died from me gone for five weeks) and figured I would be better off buying some bulbs and such for the garden outside. I found this place which (I think) has really reasonable and cheap bulbs. I'm willing to bet the prices might go up a bit next year, but I'm hoping to be able to get these:
(this year's prices)
Dicentra alba (white bleeding heart) 1/$2.99 (probably just a root, but cheaper than the pink ones from walmart)
Oxalis 'Iron Cross' 12/$4.29
Bletilla striata (chinese ground orchid, real orchid) 2/$8.99 (hardy outside and cheaper than phals!)
Hymenocallis (peruvian daffodil) 2/$6.99 (they listed hymenocallis for 2/$6.99 and peruvian dafodil as a seperate listing for 1/$3.99)
Ranunculus (persian buttercup) 12/$3.99
Freesia 10/$4.49 (I've always wanted to try these)
Total comes to about $32, plus $5 shipping...assuming the cataloge comes in February, I can order in March, and if I save $10 a month, I'll have enough to buy what I want. If you order $40+ there' no shipping. Missing one hangout with my friends a month in exchange for so many cool
flowers, i think is way worth it.
What plants do you want to add to your garden next year?
