I stayed up till 1am......last nite, not to miss a moment of the Nite booming cereus ......Only lasts from one till 9:30 am.........Now it is closed. I missed that show 2007......I aimed to see it this time..Look.
Dodge thanks for sharing and for staying up to get these shots. Well worth it if you had to stay up 3 days. Have heard so much about this bloom first time I think I have seen the photo's of it. Fantastic.
Meet Clyde my Male Sugar Glider. Clyde says Keep it organic.
I was watching it for 2 weeks. That last day the bud seemed to be expanding ......I took photos of it every hour and sent it to a Lady in North carolins, who had one. She was telling me what it appeared to be. ANd I was going out every hour after 9:pm I knew for sure.
I knew it was a rapid happening , cause last year some guy online said so...... Nite timer...
Here's a picture of what I thought was a nite blooming cereus, but as you can see, the flower is a little different. This cactus has been growing up our pine tree since at least 1993 and has taken over the upper most part of it, creating sometimes 50 flowers at a time. They, too, are only open for a few hours at night, but have bloomed probably 6 times since the first of July. Any idea what I have here?
ok, I don't know how to post the picture...first tell me how to do that!

This is another cactus that I've had for a few years. This year she has bloomed several times, and like the others, only at night. It's quite exciting to catch them at their best. Enjoy!
OMGosh how very very fortunate you are,, many of us struggle to get a single bloom a year,,,,,,, fantastic, I knew that they like a little acidity soil,,,,,, But dangggggggg it's growing on a pine tree,, you are sooooooooooooooooo lucky and we're lucky to have you here with us,, thanks soooo very much for sharing your pictures,, and Yep you're going to enjoy being here,,,,, Jump over to Banter hall when you get comfortable,,

They are beautiful......did you stay up all nite to see them?
LOL ......It was really funny...........I was online and kept running out and my sister was laughing her head off at me...She doubted my word..
Fooled her..LOL
thanks for sharing ........we love looking at everything.
I need a sago palm for my neice.............she is in florida.
Actually, this one caught us by surprise! This cactus is flat, like yours, I believe. She's got 2 buds on her right now, and just above is the other type (like the one growing up the pine tree) with 2 buds as well. Would it be too much to ask that they bloom at the same time? haha
Thanks for sharing! Photos are awsome!!!! I just got few cuttings from a friend...I heard that it takes 2-3 years to grow before it blooms...patience is needed.
Thanks Alphy! Jiffymouse, I'm in the Clearwater area. This particular cactus is indeed about 3 years old. It was a clipping from my mothers plant and did well in my little patio garden. Almost took over the place! So I kept trimming it back hoping for flowers. Then I moved last Feb., and I'm not sure if it was just the timing, or if she just really likes it here. Maybe a little of both. Regardless, I'm thrilled with the results!
Lani, I'm wondering if it could be a dragon fruit cactus?
