Dodge thanks for sharing and for staying up to get these shots. Well worth it if you had to stay up 3 days. Have heard so much about this bloom first time I think I have seen the photo's of it. Fantastic.

I was watching it for 2 weeks.
That last day the bud seemed to be expanding ......I took photos of it every hour and sent it to a Lady in North carolins, who had one. She was telling me what it appeared to be. ANd I was going out every hour after 9:pm
I knew for sure.

I knew it was a rapid happening , cause last year some guy online said so......
Nite timer...

I was determined not to miss it this time.

Fun

Hi Dodge,

Here's a picture of what I thought was a nite blooming cereus, but as you can see, the flower is a little different. This cactus has been growing up our pine tree since at least 1993 and has taken over the upper most part of it, creating sometimes 50 flowers at a time. They, too, are only open for a few hours at night, but have bloomed probably 6 times since the first of July. Any idea what I have here?

ok, I don't know how to post the picture...first tell me how to do that!

Thanks!

This is another cactus that I've had for a few years. This year she has bloomed several times, and like the others, only at night. It's quite exciting to catch them at their best. Enjoy!

Thank you very much!

Actually, this one caught us by surprise! This cactus is flat, like yours, I believe. She's got 2 buds on her right now, and just above is the other type (like the one growing up the pine tree) with 2 buds as well. Would it be too much to ask that they bloom at the same time? haha

Sago palms are beautiful. They grow well here.

Thanks Alphy! Jiffymouse, I'm in the Clearwater area. This particular cactus is indeed about 3 years old. It was a clipping from my mothers plant and did well in my little patio garden. Almost took over the place! So I kept trimming it back hoping for flowers. Then I moved last Feb., and I'm not sure if it was just the timing, or if she just really likes it here. Maybe a little of both. Regardless, I'm thrilled with the results!

Sugarcanelani, how much did you trim it? I got a cutting about 12inch...wonder how big it will become when it is mature enough to bloom...

Lani, I'm wondering if it could be a dragon fruit cactus?

NO sure cause it is all root bound.Which I think it is supposed to be.

I would think my garden soil with maybe some sand mixed in it.
No box yet?
