I just came inside. It's been a long day. I just sat on the porch and relaxed for about an hour after I got home today. if it wasn't for the fact it's cooling off quickly and the mosquitoes are bitting I'd still be out there. oh well, gotta do some laundry and dishes any way. So, Ditchy I have a dog... named after you... named after a cat! why the name ditchy for your cat? I bet that is a good story. I look forward to seeing the pic if you can dig it up. merme, you always have drama with your help. at least this young man had a nice sense of humor.

No, Cricket, nothing interesting happened with me trying to reach the thermostat. I did have to do some acrobatics on the couch to get there, but I managed them safely enough. Tina was just fretting a bit over visions of me being trapped all night behind the couch. And I had some fears remembering the time I got caught Upside Down IN the couch! (Headstands caused by a fold-out bed which has closed aren't the best). But last night, everything was a-okay! Merme

Good morning. I got a good night's sleep. And woke up a little later than usual but in time and naturally. So I am feeling pretty ready to hit the road today. A lot of little running around to do today.

Hi everybody!
Yipes, I see I am not the only one who couldn't sleep last night! I was up til 5 AM and that wasn't good, with such a busy day on the calender.
My girl was 1/2 an hour late arriving because she got a speeding ticket. So that put me behind schedule so I was late for my appointment. Not to mention that she had to stop for gas AGAIN! I do not know why she doesn't get gas before she heads to work and leave early enough to manage it!
I "met" my new doctor today who will be following me for the diabetes. I have seen his partner for 15 years but he recently left the practice. So although I've spoken with this one many times on the phone and he's been a big help to me we've never met in person before. He is as nice in person (and very SMART!) as he is on the phone. He is pleased with my progress.
Then we went and got Maxi from school & I met some of the staff for the first time.
Then we made a Mad Dash into Target and the three of us scattered to try to get everything done quickly. $68 later, I got out of there. Yipes.
Then we went through the Wendy's drive-thru before coming back to my town. My town has no fast food places.
Now I'm having a bite of lunch and checking in with y'all and Maxi is gearing up with his Nerf rifle to go out and play.
Belinda I'm sorry about the situation with your mom. Do you or any of your siblings have her Power Of Attorney for medical decisions? Do you know why your one brother wants her placed?

Sorry to hear about your fight, suzydaze. I hope you can work things out with your brother. I work in a nursing home so I understand you not wanting to put your mom in one, especially if it's not necessary.
I am so sore today and I didn't even finish out there yesterday. It does look a lot better than it did but I need to let my body recover for a couple days. Then I can attack the ivy and the tree thing I was trying to get rid of but it seems to be stronger than oak and doesn't want to be gotten rid of. Today I'm going to drive down to where my mom works and give her her birthday present. She collect M&M stuff so I got her a bag of personalized M&M's that are red and silver and say Happy Birthday and Love You Mom! I also got her a M&M dispenser that has the red M&M guy as a fortune teller. It's hard to discribe but very cute and I think my mom will love it. Red is also her favorite color. When I get home from that I think I'll work on some sewing. It's been a while since I used my sewing machine and now that it's gardening season I want to finish my bucket organizer.

Wow Cheryl you sure have been busy! When I was at Target today I noticed they were selling those mini flower pots with seeds & dirt inside for $1 EACH! I'm talking about the 1 inch size! I couldn't believe my eyes that they would ask so much for them! Pricey! Where is afgreyparrot? She has a PM. Merme

I'm here, but everyone else is probably gone by now? I'm a bit embarrassed. I cut some collard greens on saturday to cook then never got around to it. they've been in the fridge since and yesterday hubby gave them to a neighbor, which was cool. they need to be eaten while they are still fresh. today when I got home from work I went out to the garden, as usual and notice one of my 'collard' plants is putting out a broccolli head!!!! Good Grief! We gave the neighbor a nice litte mixture of collard and broccolli greens! What in the world do broccoli greens even taste like??? ha ha I'm wondering if I should say something to them?

My grandfather will be sendin some money to help me buy some fishing tackle.I'm going to ride my bike to one of my favorite fishing spots which is on the other side of my town. Today I'm going to bake some bread. My mom bought a 9x5 inch loaf pan for me. My tomatillo and tomato plants are starting to develop flowers;they haven't opened yet. I got some corn sprouting and cukes are growing slowly.

I only had one tomatillo plant to sprout this year. It is about a foot high and put off LOTS of flowers. but, since I only had one nothing pollinated. I traded a buddy some of my loofa seeds for her tomatillo seeds, so I'm back in business! I was SO looking forward to this springs fishing season, but it has about come and gone before I've even gotten to drown a worm yet. good luck on your bread.

I'm wondering, enrique...if peppers should be germinated long after tomatoes??? I had NO trouble with maters, squash, okra, canteloupe. but, none of my peppers germinated. I ended up buying bannana and bell, $3.50 for a 4" pot! I'm still working at getting some 'peno's to sprout. no way I'm spending THAT much more on anthing. (I've never grown a summer garden w/o jalapenos...scary!)

They take about a month to germinate.I wouldn't sow too deeply;just lay the seeds in a pot and cover with enought soil to cover them up and firm the soil. peppers need warm temps to sprout.

Hi everybody.
Maxi and I had a nice dinner after he came in from playing. Then we finished watching The Return of The King and he surfed the net looking for favorite rock songs.
I'm weary and ready for bed and it is only 8 PM. I may have to hit the couch!
Is anybody here?

The boys are out of school tomorrow .. but Carrie will be taking Joseph to school... so I will be giving them breakfast so will get up early to make some pancakes... for her sake I hope it doesn't snow but if we get 2 ft they may close school ... I hope you and Maxi have a great time this weekend... Nana

Geez Nana, I do not envy you the snow accumulation that may occur. Normally if we get snow this late in the seaon it doesn't last. I would hate to be dreaming of 2 additional feet! It is very cold here tonight but that's all. Tomorrow while I am at dialysis, Maxi is going to visit his old school as they are not on break yet. He dropped by there today & his favorite teacher invited him to come back for the afternoon. So he'll pack his lunch and go down when I leave. That will be a happy afternoon for him, seeing all his buddies and being w/ Mrs. Roberge. I asked my girl to buy "a small ham for 2 people, remembering it is just for me 'n Maxi and he doesn't care for ham." Guess what? She came back with a NINE POUND SIXTEEN OUNCE shank ham! Geez oh pete, it will be good but I will be making ham recipes for a month of Sundays! I'm just glad I didn't tell her to get "a small ham for FOUR people!" Pancakes for breakfast sounds good, Nana. Me 'n Maxi will be over if we can get through your snowy streets. Merme

Good morning everyone! We've been having a fine morning here at the beach. Maxi woke me up far earlier than I meant to get up, but that's his Early Bird Style. Now he is showering to get ready to visit his old school and I am doing a ton of phone work, yuck!! Looks like I will be baking a big ham when I return from dialysis. Merme

Morning, We are getting more snow as I type... now they are saying a foot by tonight, Carrie didn't take Joseph to school today- he isn't feeling that well and she didn't want to drag all the kids out in this - we figure they may close early anyway if it starts raining later like they say and then snow again- will be really a mess out there. Pancakes went to freezer ...for later... no kids for me till this afternoon now... she has to work late today... You might be able to slice up that ham after you bake it and freeze it for later... if you have room in the freezer... just a thought... Well I better get busy , got some calls to make... and some cleaning to do too. Nana

Nana is right, Merme--and then you can have it at the ready for, say, omlets, chef salads or for a quick meat side for suppers when you are all wrung out from dialysis.
Nana I hope the snow stops before it causes you and yours any problems....

Hi all! WOW spring is sure here. GORGEOUS! Cricket, The ditch kitty story, Shes more dog acting than cat, but as to not bore you, LOL We found her in a ditch down the street about 7 years ago, someone tossed her out. My shepherd was at the end of my driveway cocking her head listening, I suddenl¥ heard this pathetic crying. The rest is history. Most unique cat I have ever owned, and I have had many. This is a more flattering pose, In the office. She is a bit conscious of her weight.. ACtually, Another nicname for her is Tubby D. She responds to all her many names. Ditch mostly or Ditchy. MY hubby named her. OK Lets see.

I came home from dialysis to see a group of kids all gathering in the front of my house. Clearly, Maxi Is In Residence -- the kids are back! I was starving as usual so I fixed a fried egg and tomatoe sandwich for my very late "lunch". Now I am due for a small snooze on the couch while we wait for my girl to come. Maxi demonstrated to his friends the proper technique for planting potatoes. They didn't believe him. Boy, are they going to be surprised. Considering his big gardens on our porch, you'd think they'd realize he means it. I think it is a worthwhile experiment for him, regardless of the results. Merme

I woke up from my nap with a pressure headache. It is supposed to rain tonight and sometimes the changes in the barometer will set off a headache in me. I wish it would go ahead and just rain already!
I'm going to change clothes and try to get more comfortable. My girl will start the laundry later and I'll finish it up tomorrow.

We now have about 6 inches of wet snow out there... and still coming down hard and a lot... we lost our tv satelite...so we will be watching stuff we recorded or reading... or both tonight... we have candles burning just in case the power goes out.. I made sure Jon got home to the boys too... he got off early and it still took him 2 hours to get home... Joe took and hour too and he is only 6 miles away... Carrie went in a little early and got there before it got bad- Jon may have to go get her though- they just said on the tv thats on the converter boz that we may get 30 inches by morning... YUCK! I am sure glad we have a fireplace to keep us warm if the power goes out.... going to go make dinner now too.... Nana

Nana, that is a lot of late snow. At least it should melt away fast. I hope your family all get home safe and snuggly tonight.

I woke Maxi from his nap so he could have his dinner. I am not sure he ever really even opened his eyes all the way! And of course he is back in dreamland already.
We have the dishwasher going and the laundry started. YAY! There won't be too much to do tomorrow.
I'm not glad to hear about your snow, Nana.

But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
