But It's good to know you can still bead every once in a while

Now marble design is something else altogether!,, I love the necklace you showed in your last thread




Toys R us has marbles,, My walmart has bags of marbles Just plain 'ol marbles. I just saw them there today.
If you have a Family Dollar or Dollar Tree they have them also. I've also seen them in Kroger's in the isle with kids toys. I hope you find marbles soon,, I can't wait to see your next project.

Ya know... my WalMart does NOT have marbles - I asked and they looked at me like I had 3 heads! Target had the same reaction, and Dollar Tree (the only $ store we have left around here) only has the glass gems that people put in vases. I did get a bag full of light colored marbles at another $ store so I guess I'm good for now.

I am going to another Bead Innovations Expo tomorrow - I need more beads like a hole in my head, but it's addictive and the prices are so much better at these shows than in the stores here. I'll let you know how I did when I get back!

I went to my 3rd Innovative Bead Expo yesterday. I had some purchases in mind, but the vendors either didn't have the items this time, or they weren't in attendance.

Of course I couldn't walk away without buying SOMETHING, and when I saw these pendants made out of SAW DUST I just had to get some. Two are for gifts.

The purple ones are a bit more plum in reality - it was hard getting a good picture. The saw dust is mixed with glitter, and that is what sparkles aside from the stones. I will need to put a straight "pin" in them, and make a loop at the top in order to hang them from a necklace. They are about 1 1/4" long.



There is a woman who is always there who has the most gorgeous dichroic glass pieces. I want every single one of them, but because they are pretty pricey, I always comb through her 50% off bin. I ended up with these 2 pieces - the smaller one is about 1 1/8 inch long, and the longer one is 1 3/4".

Sorry the picture is blury - try as I might, I could not get a clear picture.

Beautiful pieces, Lynne! Your time there was very well spent! Will you show us the finished projects when you complete them?

The next time you are in Ogunquit, Lynne, make a fast run up to Portland. There is a toy store in the Old Port (right on the harbor) which sells loose marbles in many sizes... they are graded and separated by mm's and go all the way up to GIGANTIC! You can stand there and pick out the ones you like rather than buying an entire bag of "maybe's".

Lynne---I too was confused about what a "sawdust" piece was---thanks for posting because now I know---you had me stumped---I would not of guessed they looked like that--they are VERY nice indeed..

Thanks everyone! I still can't believe those pendants were made from sawdust, but what a wonderful way to recycle something, huh? I wish I had more information about them - where they were made, and how, etc.

Merme - I don't think I'll be in Ogunquit anytime soon, though it was a very pretty area. It just wasn't a great vacation for us if you remember... But that toy store sounds great!

I needed a necklace to wear with my new sweater when we go out for dinner tonight for Mother's Day with my family. The sweater is black and white, and I had a lot of hematite beads.

I made this one for myself with hematite irregular chip beads.
The round beads are silver in color and hang down just a tiny bit.


And then I decided to make this one for my sister for Mother's Day -
we never ever exchange gifts, but I got the urge to do this - hope it's well received! The twisted black beads are hematite, and the round beads are glass that are silver with black dots - very different beads - must get some more of those! Silver spaces in between those 2 different beads.
