Hi Isabel
So Sorry to hear your plant was broken, That must have been disappointing
BUT do not worry ,, where it broke off at new shoots will begin soon
and the pieces that broke off will start new roots provided they are in fresh water ( I'd change the water every few days  ) Soon you'll have New growth and roots from all the pieces, and later should you choose too you can repot them all together ,, OR have two different plants in separate pots
Heart-leaf Philodendron is probably one of the easiest house plants to grow. Place them nearly any where (except direct sun) and they will thrive. Allow the soil to dry about one inch from the surface before watering. Feed monthly with a balanced plant food. If your plant becomes leggy... just cut it back to the desired size. The cuttings are easily rooted in a container of water or vermiculite.
